Published on 06/08/04 at 15:00In Brazilian Music store called Hendrix Music - some R$ 1400 - abt USD 350...
Sounds great, good cost/benefit. It comes with ernie ball strings, which is very good. Altough it is now as well finished as some other basses I have, It still sounds great, and looks very rugged. The fingerboad is very confortable for me.
It has some minor faults on it its finish, but nothing really serious.
Very rugged, well constructed, but as I mentioned before, not so well finished.
A good working tool for those who can not afford to buy a real Music Man Bass

Published on 11/18/03 at 15:00I played this bass at Sam Ash on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles for half an hour. It was selling for $229. Later I found a refurbished copy on Musician's Friend for $129.
The ability to adjust volume on each coil on the humbucker is a major plus for me, since I'm a guitar player without much bass technique and am used to using pickup selector switches to change tone. This also gives considerable tonal variation. I had played a friend's cheap Squier bass and liked the earthy, unobtrusive thud I was able to get, but subsequent tests with both Squiers and Precisions failed to find that tone. I was surprised to find it in the OLP. The Stingray is a classic design, as well, and the MM2...…

Made in China -- don't expect much resale value. Durability is also an unknown.
Seems decent if not great. The pearl blue finish looks good.
Time will tell whether this bass can last for years the way I need it to, but the sounds I was able to get from it in-store were the best I'd heard in this price range.

Published on 08/27/03 at 15:00I attempted to buy this bass from Muscians Friend twice, both time when it arrived it was dammaged. I ended up buying it at Guitar Center for about $235
I love everything about this bass! ESPECIALLY the price. It sounds great, especially the mids. The quality was pretty good throughout the whole bass, and it is an easy bass to upgrade. The neck is smooth and fast, but not super-skinny; it has a more vintage style neck, similar in some ways to a Prescion Bass. The stock bass comes equipped with Ernieball Slkinky strings, and the bass is approved by Musicman.

The only complaint I would have about this bass is that when I took off the pickguard to install a new pickup (A basslines musicman replacement, make sure you know waht your doing before attempting this. The basslines model is harder to install than some of the cheaper ones) I found 2 missdrilled holes. Other than that, I have no complaints. Another thing was a lack of any sort of instructions.
The construction is quite nice, and the neck fits perfectly and tightly to the body. Above i mentioned the missdrilled holes. The control cavity and the pickup hole are clean and functional, the electronics simple and easy to see what does what.
I think this is the best bass avaliable under $300. Heck mabey even $400. I've played alot of basses and none matched the sheer value of this bass. If this bass was priced at $500 when i bought it, I would have not had any second thoughts. The bass is great at plying many types of music.

Published on 05/30/03 at 15:00I bought this product from eBay for $220. It's also available through Musicans Friend for around the same price. I chose eBay because there was no tax.
This bass took me by suprise. I was expecting a POS bass that I would have to upgrade everything on. However, after playing for 30 minutes I realised what a deal I'd stumbled upon. The neck plays awesome and there are no dead spots or buzzes. The frets are smoothed so sliding is no problem. The finish is mint and shiny, the action(string height) was perfect from the factory, and all other parts are strong and easy to use.

After having this bass for about a week I notice three problems. First, the strap pins are coming loose, and the pickup is far from "good". The E string is awful unless you're finger picking. It's muddy and much louder than the other strings. Also, when you slide up the E string it sounds like the world is ending. Finally, the pickguard is very thin and weak.
This bass is A+ quality and construction for the price.
Bottom line- better than any other new bass in this price range I've seen. I'm preparing to buy a Seymour Duncan SMB-4D to slap in this thing and a new pickguard so it'll be ready to go.
