Value For Money :
Excellent
I believe (check) that this bass is a made in China. The settings are classic, RAS. The neck seems a hair too wide ... but it's a 5 string and my other 5 strings (which is my main bass) is an Ibanez brand known for its fine innings. So everything is relative.
UTILIZATION
But always on the run, nothing insurmountable and a half day of rehearsal, we made it without a problem. So you could say that the handle is not unpleasant. Good access to acute ... and serious. The body of the instrument is much smaller than a conventional low, making this bass easily transportable. For a low second drive when moving to the right and left and we do not want to damage his first bass, it's perfect!
Great stuff: the Nut is height adjustable. This avoids taking the lead on ropes that border. on the other hand, as the bass is a cheap model, adjustments were made to be much interest not hear frisouilles or harmonics escaping. So while placing his strings, making his small height adjustments in the rules of art and everything should be fine. Ca, a beginner can do it after a month without problem.
The weight of the bass seems light enough (again difficult to compare with my Ibanez is a featherweight): no backache or shoulder after an hour of play.
SOUNDS
I like playing "dry" (near the bridge and cut score) with lots of midrange and here does. This is not his most amazing that I've heard but for this type of bass, which is a more passive model is quite correct.
Serious and especially if this 5-string sound good, they have the same "potato" as some higher notes.
OVERALL OPINION
I got this bass used for 200 euros with a flight case and I am happy with my purchase. I played on this Blackhawk every day in August and the only small problem I encountered is that the bass goes out of tune pretty quickly, but it is not dramatic. This is a transportable low (they are all I hear you say ...), ideal for beginners in my opinion ... or not! The playability is good and for 200 euros secondhand, the choice of this type of model and brand bullshit seems obvious.
Body shape: love it or do not. I think she did a little "toy" but after this consideration, the bass is very enjoyable to play.
To summarize: small passive bass ideal for travel or beginners, its correct, proper ergonomics, settings that require some attention to detail but in the end there is material to make music properly.
