UTILIZATION
Use quickly mastered, shift function a little painful. Better to print the manual pdf.
SOUND QUALITY
Many effects unusable. Chorus and compressor disappointing.
OVERALL OPINION
I have a blackbox for 15 days. Without repeating what is above, here's a summary of my impressions.
1. The upgrade is essential. Do not try this first or you'll pinball!
2. Most
- 40 amp models realistic enough especially since he is the Mid setting. I do not care the resemblance to the originals. The sound really drives.
- Rhythms to work ... in rhythm.
- Lots of effects
- The output SPDIF 24-bit to enter a digital magneto. One would have expected the 16-bit product which is at first gadget.
- The function sound card. This is really two devices in one. A + preamp sound card.
3. The -
- Many effects completely useless gadgets as well as on stage in a mix. No phasing and chorus disappointing.
- History of the tempo sync delay is really a marketing gimmick. Any fool can do 60/tempo for the value of its delay. Example (for idiots) tempo = 112, 60/112 = 0536 set your delay to 536M or 268M half (or other multiple pairs). The thing I do often on my Magneto: delay 268m left, 536m on the right. It's a matter of 10s this little calculation then saves it in its pattern and here.
- Function shift painful to use. Finally, an update software can not add buttons on the machine!
- Some drum patterns are unsustainable. We really need an update so that we can create your own patterns or at least adjust the volume of the snare cymba and comics. It will never be a box Ryhmes because you can not create chaining but it should really have their hands on the patterns.
- Too bad, but bad that there is no simulation of HP.
- For the voice is not terrible, compressor means.
4. What I expect as modified M-Audio (hopefully!)
- Volumes BD, Snare and separately adjustable cymba
- Patterns modifiable
- Assignments expression pedal and footswitch can be stored in presets users.
- The simulation. correct acoustic amp
- The simulation. preamp. micro tube (yes, why not use it for voice, is every c'qui be on board)
- The simulation. compressors lamps.
- The simulation. chorus of legend (like Eventide ...).
- The simulation. HP + recovery as the VG8.
One can dream, but ultimately is that the program to return to the dsp ... then?
If there is more room, they turn to some simulation. amp electric, we do not need 40 amps ... Finally me, I find that 9 good.
In short, it kills the price. It is small but is not practical to ask all. I still have my VG8 ...
I put 8 because I hope M-Audio will make further improvement.
