«  Multi effects but good .... »

Published on 11/09/13 at 17:12
The Nova System has 7 "slices effects" broken down as follows:

Drive:

- Overdrive
- Distortion

Compressor:

- Perc
- Sustain
- Advance

EQ:

- EQ / Gate

Modeling

- Chorus
- Flanger
- Vibrato
- Phaser
- Tremolo
- Panner

Pitch

- Shifter
- Octave
- Wham
- Detune
- Intelligent P

Delay:

- Clean
- Analog
- Tape
- Dynamic
- Dual
- Ping Pong

Reverb:

- Spring
- Hall
- Room
- Plate

To this you add a "boost" in the form of handy switch, a tuner, a tap tempo ...

A Line Input, Input Drive entrance, a MIDI standard (In Out and Thru) interface, a Return / Send Digital I / O SPDIF, 2 outputs Left / Right connection for stereo & a "Pedal In" entry up the rear of the pedal.

No PC Edition / MAC

Very solid pedal metal
No on / off switch

UTILIZATION

So use .... !

I have to admit I bought this equipment on the advice of a professional musician friend guitarist, and also general reviews lurking here & there on the Internet ...

Let's start with the manual (!) No person seems to be the adjective that best matches the user manual, unintuitive, this manual is intended for technicians used devices of all kinds!

Then the camera: Again, big disappointment for me, if the basic settings seem to be pretty well arranged, the menu navigation and more generally all the knobs of the device is tedious, not at all friendly and above must be absolutely connoisseur of all frequencies to be used for fine tuning as moult settings are in terms of frequency (Hertz) so who knows nothing and instead used to adjust knobs classic style Line 6 Pod may worry! This is typically the type of device that stresses you out completely if you live and there is no output volume: you will have to enter the menu and check data 50 to ensure that there has the volume!

SOUND QUALITY

This is the highlight of this device: the quality of effects!

There is nothing to complain about all the effects present in the Nova System, all "subcategories" confused ... Very good reverb, great delays, chorus, flanger, octave etc. ... If you manage to adjust and refine the sound especially when you can not be disappointed, because they are really clean.

One disappointment: the Drive "Disto / Overdrive ... So then I did not understand ... The settings are very limited, and its messy, confused ... Yet I tried several combinations but to no avail Compared to ... - would it - a Vox Tonelab Ex, there is no picture!

OVERALL OPINION

I used six months in 2010 and I just dropped because of its use tedious ... To finally come back, because you realize that there really is no good multi effects for acoustic guitars live and the TC NOVA SYSTEM seems to be the best compromise to date for this purpose. The sound, it is true, are enhanced with effects that TC contains.

What I like +:

- Very good clean effects, pure
- The strength of the unit
- The handy light switches on stage
- The "Boost" function ideal for solos

What I like -:

- Config tedious requiring advanced technical knowledge management (Hertz)
- Quality Drive (Overdrive / distortion) nonexistent and unusable for me
- No on / off switch!
- Zero update for 2 years while a SHIFT is necessary, if only at the level of the external pedal that can be connected: it never worked for either me or my friend, or for several users who have complained on the forums!

I would do this choice ... lack of choice currently on multi effects specifically dedicated to acoustic guitars!
