    Perfect 7 string.

Ibanez UV77RE Steve Vai SignaturePublished on 03/04/12 at 22:34
This UV77 Universe 7 string guitar from Ibanez has a basswood body, maply bolt-on neck with rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets, disappearing pyramid inlays, last 4 frets scalloped. It has 3 Dimarzio Blaze 7 pickups in an HSH configuration. The guitar has an Ibanez Edge 7 locking tremolo system, and it features an insane multi-color swirl finish.

    UTILIZATION

This guitar plays as easily as any guitar can play. Access to the highest and lowest frets and strings is without any difficulty. The strings feel like they are playing themselves, the action is so low! Shredders will rejoice in this. SOUNDS

These pickups sound amazing! In any style, this guitar can definitely succeed. However, the looks of the guitar will throw off people in the more conservative areas, such as traditional jazz or country or blues. But break this out at a metal show and all the guitar nerds in the crowd will go crazy!

    OVERALL OPINION

This is a collector guitar, for sure. The unfortunate thing is that this is a guitar with collector pricing as well. I generally try to rate on the scale of 1-10 all relative to price. I'm not doing that on this guitar, since I think it is much too expensive for what it is - the originals could be bought for a 5th of the asking price of this one. Yet I will still rate a 10 on all areas, since I think this guitar is a perfect example of what a guitar can be. Check it out if you see it - it won't be hanging on a wall, it'll be in the back warehouse, waiting for the person who already paid for it to pick it up.
