Installation performed without a pb config Windows XP, the database takes about 700 MB on the hard disk.
I added a master keyboard Edirol A 30 to the USB port by selecting an ASIO driver which provides a zero latency between the key and the keyboard (which is not the case in wave MME). I also use the keyboard as IN and OUT sound card and when I travel without my keyboard, I switch on the notebook PC sound card with no points.
The tutorial allows you to take control of the software in one hour with the main functionnalities. moreover, it has interesting chapters on the work of his (filter, attack ...) and the effects.
For cons, I can not use Rebirth 2.0 Rewire in Orion and it is not clear in the manual.
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
Laptop 1GHz, 512 RAM, 40 GB hard drive.
Config stable in 95% of cases unless the registered audio (abrupt closure without backup).
No slowdown noted during listening.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for 3 months now and I really like the ergonomics of the application and the editing function even though it lacks the editing partition.
This software allows a lot for composers of electronic music with a powerful sampler (although it lacks the ability to vary the tempo of the sample without changing its pitch) and synthesizer sounds with a virtual creation of its almost unlimited (the number of knobs is amazing, so thank you presets already provided in Orion!).
The work of drum sounds is also good with major techno Roland kicks and some percussion.
Side FX, no problem if not a little redundant qques effects but a good quality.
I started electronic music 10 years ago on a 166 Mhz PC and Cakewalk Express. Today, I reinvest an amount only slightly more expensive option but a thousand times greater.
I can therefore only be completely satisfied because my leisure and use my first creations were really the "pro" with Orion that was not possible with the budget 10 years ago.
In conclusion, this software is suitable for 99% for a musician like me who practices as a hobby on electro-oriented compositions and does not want to ruin with a result close to a studio quality.
Its strength: its ease of use and power to the electronic composition.
Its weakness: I think too limited for more advanced styles and intensive use.
