Published on 02/21/11 at 12:17This is the secret weapon of Jack White. It is a rather fat fuzz coupled with octaver (2 octaves lower).
It is an analog pedal in the MXR tradition: a strong and reliable design with two potentiometers, a switch, an input jack, output jack and a DC 9 V type Boss. (Same size as the Nano Electro Harmonix)
UTILIZATION
The blue box can not be the only distortion pedal, overdrive or fuzz but surely your arsenal for a real gun riffs or solos that stand out.
The manual is clear and no use on a pedal with two buttons!
This is not a fuzz or a octaver is a Blue Box!
SOUND QUALITY
The fuzz effect is ubiquitous potentiometer "output" is a substantive rule unless it has provided a "boost" in its chain effect (type "micro amp" in the same brand) .
The effect octaver is blocked on a basic salary of two octaves lower, is managed through the potentiometer "blend" that determines the effect on its sound!
The "blend" works and left the grave (the subwoofer) uncontrollable below the twelfth fret but with a purpose 8-bit (mario bross) highly appreciated by Thurston Moore.
Set approximately at noon on "blend" reveals its power and offers a unique weight in your sound! Unique!
Pushed the "blend" race to the bottom right does not negate the effect provided octaver and delivers a fuzz unfortunately clumsy and bloated.
Used with a guitar, bass, or even keyboards (Rhodes turns your Mini Moog).
It should consider its effect chaining intelligently and personal and it's the same for use in the heart of your game
OVERALL OPINION
This pedal is designed in the 70's the Blue Box is both a foot and a little-known classic in the history of inimitable effects.
Like many fuzz pedal combo:
the fuzz / wha home or Morley fuzz / falnger etc. .. The MXR M103 is a unique and exciting type of your sound dramatically.
AC is a real effect pedal!
This pedal has a unique DNA and this is what interests me only in the sound whatsoever in the effects, amps and instruments.
