please help behringer xenyx 802 set up

hi
ive recently purchased a xenyx 802
ive never used a mixer for recording before
i have currently the main outs L and R to my soundcard line in
my line out to tape inputs on my xenyx and (because i have no moniters) my hi fi's aux to phones on mixer it kind of works but i cant turn up without alot of distortion.
appreciate it if anyone can help

"phones" is a high level and impedence output.

plugging it into another amp brings the level up too high, and hello distortion.

use another mixer output.
