Acoustic Guitars and PC amplification/recording

Now I have an acoustic guitar with a passive pickup (high impetance, I assume). And knowing this, I think I need a preamp, however I am not sure. I looked around the forums -- and it seemed a mixer would be what the electric guitars used.

Basically -- What do I need?
I have a 2.66ghz/1gig ram
Audigy 2 NX computer.

I have a passive pickup on my acoustic.
