Check out the MAudio Audiophile 24/96. It's a very nice entry level card if you just want to start a project studio. If you want to record a whole band at once, check out the
MAudio Delta 1010
. it has 8 inputs.

I have a M-audio Dman PCI which predates the Audiophile, it's great, I won't swap it for newer stuff.
