I am a casual musician and I have always wanted to see if I could combine multiple recordings. I would love a multi-track recorder.

I have no experience in this area but I would want something simple, fairly compact (portable), inexpensive, and probably digital (if that makes sense). I would be recording mostly acoustic guitar, some electric, vocal and possibly from a drum kit.

Does anyone have any favorite products or suggestions of where I may begin to look?
