Thread help with recording vocals ( mp3 inside)

I record from home, mostly cover versions , but sometimes forray into the land of remixing :-)
Heres a cover of a Coldplay Song " Don't Panic"

the vocal seems to be buried somewhat in the mix. so any advice on the best way to record vocals using only a desktop pc mic would be most helpful ;-)

currently using N Track Studio for the multi-tracking , and Soundforge for editing, then Cool Edit for any effects.

The vocals indeed sound distant.
How did you record the voice? Did you use some reverb or record in a very reflective environment?

I recorded the voice using a simple desktop pc mic :-( I know , I need better equipment :rolleyes:

any tips of how to get a richer sound though, without doubling up the vocal track ?
