Roland EV5 expression pedal with Edirol PCR 30

I'm getting data action on the keyboard but the volume does not change with the pedal action when playing with sampled sounds in the DS404 from Computer Music mag. Does the PCR30 need some sort of configuration to use the pedal or is it in the software?
