Ok,

Singer Songwriter - just purchased "Music Creator" from Cakewalks and I'm really struggling with the interfaces and how to use it. Essentially, I want to understand how to lay down backing tracks (bass, drums, keys) to my vocals and guitars. I've purchased a Boss DR-5 drum machine that I plan to do drums and bass on, and I plan on buying a 8 track digital recording studio to handle the live stuff. From there I want to bring the mix down to Music Creator for the final mixing and to burn to a CD. From reading here, I understand I'll need a USB interface to handle that effectively - or I guess I could take the mix out of the 8 track studio and into the 1/8" jack on my soundcard.

Again - guitar player/ vocalist - I want to use these tools to fill out the band and create complete songs and burn them to CD.

If you could point me to some books, resources, classes etc - I think that would be a good start.
