Great Bogner tone!
Published on 11/27/14 at 02:091 photoThis is a one channel device that is all about achieving the PREAMP tone of a (Bogner designed) Hafler Triple Giant -Sharp channel (Highest gain!)!
UTILIZATION
This is a "one channel preamp" in pedal form that replicates the Bogner hi gain sound. It is meant to go straight into a poweramp or you can use the cab sim output into a PA or to record. NOT a distortion pedal!!
SOUND QUALITY
Bogner hi gain sound!! Perfect dynamics and tone of a Bogner! Very accurate= think Jerry Cantrell or Marty Friedman (Holy Wars Solo's). I have ran this into the CD/aux input of a Marshall AVT20 w/a 10" Celestion and blew away the Marshall preamp! Sounded Very hi end. Benefits from a OD boost as well! Wide dynamics!
OVERALL OPINION
Wide dynamics! This JFET technology is just amazing. Yes it is just the Hi Gain Channel w/o a clean but it does it perfectly! At $130 this is a real treasure for people on a budget who cannot afford a hi end amp or real Bogner. Has a true bypass switch. Needs to be powered by a 12v 1.25 amp PS to get the full dynamics (will run on a 9v battery or 9v PS), this is VERY important. Amazing!!!See less00 - areyoudeadyet?Published on 04/17/13 at 23:52 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Analog preamp. JFET. Emulation Bogner Sharp Channel BG.

This is in my opinion the best offering from AMT's Legendary Series. This pedal by no means sounds like a Bogner but it does have some characteristics that keep along with an XTC. The cab sim does sound pretty decent but again this review is in front of the amp.

- The AMT Legend Amp Series guitar pedals provide excellent dynamics, nuances, and characteristics similar to that of tube driven amplifiers.
- Tube-like range of volume control provides great sound density, playability, and power when playing at full volume and also in conjunction with your guitars volume knob.
- TRUE BYPASS. The preamps of the Legend Amp Series pedals use passive true bypass circuitry, therefore no loss of guitar signal is noticed in your pedal chain. Similar to if no pedal was there at all when bypassed.
- Features high level of output signal (+10dB in extreme position of Level knob) corresponds to the output levels similar of tube preamps. Thus, you have adjustable signal level allowing to hook up your preamp AND direct input of a power amplifier.
- Controls include LEVEL, GAIN, LOW, MID, and HIGH.
- TWO signal outputs: DIRECT AMPLIFIER OUT for guitar amplifier use and CAB SIMULATION OUT for mixer, or studio use.
- Power saving mode. When the speaker simulation output jack is not in use, the pedal automatically switches to power saving mode. Current consumption (from 9V power unit) is less than 6mÀ (in power saving mode it drops to 4mÀ).
UTILIZATION
Like all AMT pedals this one is very easy to dial in. It will take you about five or so minutes to find a solid tone that you will use for most of the time. Like all of the Legend Series from AMT, it has five control knobs that level out the tonal options. It has the basic three EQ knobs with a level and a gain control. Not much to figure out. Dial it in to your preferable setting and there you have it.
SOUND QUALITY
I really don't like these pedals since they are so limiting in use. If you don't have an effects loop or you have one but that isn't tube buffered or sounds like garbage then this pedal will sound like garbage too. It is sounds thin but not as thin as the other LS AMT pedals. This one can sound a little better in front of an amp on the clean channel but won't sound anything like a Bogner.
Use this pedal with a humbucker style guitar as it will sound very tinty otherwise. You will have a decent sound from a single coil but nothing that compliments this pedal.
OVERALL OPINION
I gave this pedal a mediocre rating since it sounds bad but better than the other Legendary Series pedals from AMT. It does sounds good in the effects loop but otherwise it is still a poor sounding pedal.
I wouldn't recommend this pedal to anyone since you can find better offerings from the same company at a cheaper price. At new these units come in at around $130. I like the Extreme lll an Metalizer pedals from the Amt classic series. They are less expensive and sound a lot better with an amp.See less08
