I got my AM 4 at Guitar Center for $140.
There are two reasons why i got it
1) My Marshal Avt 150 head was giving me a tremendous amount of bass on the clean channel that was pissing everyone off in my band, and i desperately neded something to clean it up. ( i tought about getting the boss Acoustic pedal but i heard it sucks and when i tried it it indeed did!)
2) my boyfriend recomended i get the AM 4 because he likes line 6. I did some research and i found no negative reviews.
So basically i just needed a clean sound.



When i tried it at Guitar Center, just like all horror stories begin, it sounded pretty bitching at low volumes then when i got home and cranked the volume it sounded like shi*. I honestly considered returning the unit several times. But after spending hours finding a good sound at high and low volumes, i decided the clean fender 65' model was ok. I only like that particular setting so far.

This thing eats off batteries in less han 2 hours. It requires 4 C batteries which can be pricey. I recommend buying the power supply. The clean channel settings are pretty sweet, but the dirty are extremely crappy. The INSANE setting sounds awfull when cranked below 4 in my amp. The only decent distortion is the JMC 800. Or maybe the SOLDANO at low volumes.

The construction is perfect. Very heavy and solid it stands strong. The quiality is intended to be excellent but is merely good. Out of 16 presets, only one sounds good to me. For $140 i really expected a bit more.

If you are considering the AM4 for studio use or low volume use, i would recomend it. However if you gig or want to use it with a drummer don't bother. If you need killer distortion like the JMC800 or Double Rectifier, buy your self a Digitech Metal Pedal. The Am4 might come in handy if i decide to use it in the studio , but for now only one of it's features is of use to me.

Purchased at a local music store for $149.00. There are a lot of great amp tones out there and I wanted to have them for myself without having a bunch of amps. I had heard and read that Line 6 was one of the best at digital amp modeling and $149.00 seemed like a small price to pay.

Small enough to use as a desk top but solid enough to stomp on. 16 amp models: 5 vintage Fenders, 2 vibtage Voxs, 3 Marshalls and 6 various others are a great selection of both vintage and modern, clean and crunch tones. I have to admit I have never heard many of the original amps that are modeled but I think the sound is fantastic. Especially in the Fender and Vox amps. 4 programmable stomp switches. Highly adjustable tone, volume and drive knobs. My Favorites are the Fender 64 Delux Reverb, 65 Twin Reverb and the 67 Vox AC-30 Top Boost. The manual even gives tips on tone adjustment for each amp and what artist you may have heard using them. Plan on picking up the optional ($50.00) expression pedal also.

Front end distortion on 2 of the high gain amps. Noise gate works well on front end but takes away alot of volume and sustain. Some sound with the noise gate on is pretty unstable. Other than that its fabulous!

Solid steel with heavy switches and a good rubber mat underneath. Wont scratch your desk as a desk top and wont slide around on the floor. Switches are far enough apart to not hit two by accident. face plate is well marked and easy to read.

$149.00 for all that tone is a true bargin. I play through a Fender Princeton 65 DSP amp and I thought it sounded pretty good until I plugged in the AM4. I think it really is like having a room full of amps in one.

UTILIZATION

CSTA configuration is very simple.
Excellent for scne, each memory can be changed quickly (for the volume or gain is convenient).
The pedals are solid and the switches to switch between one channel the other without time latance.
The manual is very well screwed because it provides for each type of receiver the optimal configuration (drive, bass ...) that is closest to the cre modlisation by the manufacturer.
It is regrettable that the transformer is not provided but at the same time to make scne ammen we often use the device with batteries.

SOUND QUALITY

The effects are trsralistes: trs sound pure and blues sound with foil until the distortion trs msaboogie the trash.
Perfect with a les paul or even a stratum.
Personally I love the Dual Rectifier sounds to the Metallica and Vox 30 for a little more rhythmic 70's.
And each provides modlisation Intrets according to song and genre.

OVERALL OPINION

Used for 1 year.
What is the most j'apprcie easy to configure (no need to piss off a long time to get good sound unlike a multi-effect). Furthermore, it is perfect for scne and for rpeter because it adapts its his trs quickly with a few alterations. And I love the sound that little trs Rock drawing (Lenny Kravitz, AC / DC, Metallica).

This is the amp simulations, modeled and digitized using the technique specific to Line 6. I do not believe that we can enter the program of this bug since it only has one input and one output jack 6.35. This amply sufficient to its use. It is a model pedal of metal, very solid.

UTILIZATION

Access is easy. It has left a selector that allows you to choose between different types of amplifier and then lined up right, gain, EQ low, mid, treble and master volume. You can store sounds on four banks accessible switches. A priori, these manipulations are instinctive for any musician who have already settled with sound amplifiers. Reading the book is interesting because it allows us to understand the options for Line 6 amps in the reproduction of selected. After reading it, you can store it with the bills and forget it.

SOUND QUALITY

Talking about the sounds: The reproductions of Fender amps are compelling, those of the Buddha and Matchless interesting that of the JCM 800 (large graoûh) absolutely necessary. The rest is correct. I plug in a Boss ME50 multi-effects to its output and send either a sound card or in an Epiphone 5 watt head and cabinet Orange 112. Both configurations proved very consistent for both the sound. Obviously, the amp simulations saturated (Marshall, Soldano, Mesa Boogie) spend more in the second configuration. Note that if the single coil pickups blend well with clean sounds, they quickly fiddle with distorted sounds. In contrast, the humbuckers work with all simulations, except perhaps with the Vox. But it is a matter of taste. We must admit that, as with all these systems is confined fast enough in the use of two or three sounds. That is, it seems, for each musician. Personally, simulations of Blackface, the Bassman and JCM well enough to make me happy. I play rock and I am preparing the compositions and arrangements of my group with this system. That said, I never released this simulator in my home studio. So I will give no opinion on its use in rehearsal or live.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this simulator for three years. This keeps me to ask my computer with software simulations. Quite frankly, it's a solution without trouble. No programming, no crystal display. Just the basic settings of a conventional amp. I tried Guitar Rig Native. Very well but for all its parameters that rule, we do not do anything, and I'd rather spend time playing and arranging. I tried the Line 6 pedals, Boss, Digitech and Zoom. Too many functions for my little head. Again, a matter of taste and experience. I do not see too much downside if it is, perhaps, the lack of an on / off. Although ... is it really that useful? This machine was quite rare when I want to buy it. Line 6 has not marketed Palanquée. As it happens, also, I did not want to get rid of ME50 I find very useful for much the same reasons. I bought this simulator 280 euros, nine in Germany like everybody else, and do not regret my choice. The day I find a gizmo on the market that will allow me to both amplify and / or go to my sound card with as little concern and as such, I will revise my opinion.

SOUND QUALITY

Well, this is a simplified version of the pod, just the amp simulations, so. It's pretty authentic, well, it never ring as a light, Because the yen has not ...
but some simulations Fender, VOX, ... are nice, while others are ok, nothing more. Anyway, it depends on what is hip and it's more authentic than any distortion pedal, right?

OVERALL OPINION

Rare as it is no longer produced. Super simple utilistion, can "transform" a simple amp amp 4 channel, hyper sound, the same housing as other DM4, I think the sell because I have no amp.
