I would say they are high gain (I use one in my pedal Pedaltone Koch), it brings more bite, but it depends on the combination with other lamps. Nice saturation, but its average clear (relativisez, it all depends on the amp which is mounted, it can work wonders on a high gain amp as anemic make cata typed on a vintage amp bluesy, but dependent).
Short, to test quite trade or resell later.
Personally, I test all kinds of preamp tubes, 12AU7, ay7, at7 and AX7, different brands and change is sometimes, but not always surprising. I like it when I keep the config.
