«  Hornby Skewes clone ... its deep purple »

Published on 07/01/12 at 18:13
Treble boost pedal is a clone of the Hornby Skewes used among others by Ritchie Blackmore.

UTILIZATION

The congiguration is very simple, a foot switch to trigger the effect, and a volume knob.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound is good with lots of character is a treble booster that boosts the trebles of course, but also mediums, probably a bit more than other treble booster, as the sound becomes more biting.
The pedal works well with amps tyle british, and I find it more comfortable with single coils, but also telecaster strat of course.
We can easily find the sounds to deep purple period "machine head" for example, the pedal is at ease in the register 70's and is excellent for playing in styles blues, classic rock.
With this pedal, the amp saturates, becomes thicker, but also sharper, this allows to break into the mix.
By lowering the guitar volume, you get cleans sounds brilliant, very christallins.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a very good treble boost, which lets you change copies "Rangemaster" which innondent the market, the sound is loaded into the mediums and is also more aggressive than the "Dallas Rangemaster clones".
With the right guitar and amp british well, this is the ultimate weapon for fans of deep puple
