MGR/Lightning RT « Arion SCH-Z Stereo Chorus »
Published on 11/10/03 at 15:00From my much beloved Humbucker Music Centre Leicester England. £42.95. Bought it after seeing blues legend Jon Amor perform and use one.
On his albums he uses a Fender Vibrolux, Leslies, a Uni Vibe, and tremolo pedals - which turned me on to this sound.
Live, I was amazed to see that he just uses this pedal to recreate the rotating speaker sounds.
It's value for money all the way here. A stereo pedal for less than 50 quid.I had a 'Storm' chorus for years - which gave a 70's style sound, but it broke. I replaced it with a Dano Rocky Road, but didn't like the amount of feedback overtones and unwanted boost when it was switched on. This doesn't do that, the Chorus is smooth, without being harsh or too 80's sounding, and the tone control is a real boon. The feedback overtones are not present when the rate is set to fast, and the pedal really does give an excellent leslie type sound.
The knobs are a bit weedy, but the battery compartment is excellent and , although plastic, the unit is very sturdy. I love the sound.

You may find it hard to believe that any unit is better than a Boss chorus. But, if you don't want Boss' signature 80's sounding thang, then the Arion is the pedal for you.
