Here we have a chorus everything from classic, with an input, two outputs. The pedal is quite big, not necessarily easy to fit on a pedalboard, among other Boss pedals with formatted I / O on the sides. Here, everything is on the back. The power supply is made in connection with a standard 9V.

UTILIZATION

The configuration is simple, once the range because it differs from most other chorus. The Retro-Sonic is sold as an exact replica in smaller format, the CE-1 Boss pedal apparently mythical and one of the first chorus on the market (a demo Youtune made a comparison between the two pedals, and personally, I do not hear any difference).
The pedal has actually two effects: chorus and vibrato. The chorus is controlled by a single knob, chorus intensity, which affects the depth of the effect. The second effect is a vibrato, with two controls, depth and speed. A final knob adjusts the output level of the signal, and this control is common to the chorus and vibrato. It can act as a kind of booster, because with my set, if I positioned beyond 12 o'clock, the output signal is stronger than the incoming signal. Two switches allow one hand to turn on / off effect, and secondly, to select the desired effect (chorus or vibrato).
A manual? Frankly, not worth it.

SOUND QUALITY

If the effects are effective? Name of God, yes! Honestly, they are extremely "marked" and say, witnesses of an era. Personally, it suits me perfectly but it is far, far away from most of the chorus that I have played so far (and this is my guilty pleasure). If the chorus, in moderate settings, is relatively unobtrusive, it can become psychedelic and give seasick when the vibrato, with settings almost median, it can give a pseudo-Leslie effect that suits me well. Note that with one or the other effect initiated, the whole is extremely quiet, no hum on the horizon.

OVERALL OPINION

Bought used, I played, sparingly, for 6 months. I only rarely engages, as its very strong signature sound effect is a fairly invasive and can be quickly annoying for the audience. But it certainly adds a magical effect on agreements or groundwater in the clear. It also has very well with overdrive or saturation, which is not always the case with some chorus I've tried in the past.
I'm not sure it is still manufactured, due to the scarcity of chips needed for its manufacture, but the investment in time (around 200 euros) worth it for those for which the chorus is a major component of the sound. For those who do not have the budget, I think we found a little sound in the same spirit of Jacques Meistersinger. But having both (plus a few others), I really feel that they have finally found my Holy Grail.

Chorus fully analog, pure replica of the legendary BOSS CE01-1976 for connoisseurs.
Bought from MUSICTOYZ for 270 USD or about 204 euros. So the beast is quite small, the price per kilo is high enough! Anyway, between a chorus and a roast of pork, it 's not the same use, must admit!
The machine has four knobs, "rate", "depth", "intensity", "level". Two switches, an ON, OFF and switch between chorus and vibes. The volume pot handles the intensity level and speed of the chorus, the rate and depth were reserved in vibe mode (leslie), the manager the overall level of output.
Contrary to what one might think, the speed of the chorus is not supported by the knob "Rate" and depth is not supported by the knob "Depth", but it is actually the knob " Intensity "which manages the two parameters. Strange tell me, but actually it is not useful, knob "Intensity" assaying perfectly balance between speed and depth.
Stereo output capability, two amps, one with its dry and one with purpose, I tried it even more beautiful!

on the other hand for fine adjustment of light chorus it will be less obvious. In short, if you like very light chorus that can deliver digital machines with sophisticated settings, it's not the right niche!


SOUND QUALITY

The presentation is made, we now turn to practical work. And there pfffouuuuuu!! I already have the voodoo-vibe at Roger Mayer and as I said earlier in the trial of voodoo, the settings are sensitive and you spend some time on the volume pot of bias to find a sound. In addition, you're beautiful to win for you never SOUND CHORUS which you always dreamed! Well, there you ... t'casses no cap, you branches lean against Inter and the sound ... bah! You did! It is even more grand and two stereo amps (rivera knucklehead55 with V30 and Peavey C30) As I said before, you change just the intensity for the chorus part and regardless of the setting of the Bousin always delivers pure juice! Mode vibe, nothing to say it's all good again and also different from voodoo vibe RM by the simplicity of the settings. In terms of grain, I have not tried both side by side, but it's true vibe that the RM side is still a reference.

OVERALL OPINION

So to summarize, great simplicity of controls and top efficiency without the fuss.
On the perimeter of Use, you can do anything, jazz (no problemo beast is based on the original JC120 at the time) its very Mike Stern (20.04.2011: Attention! I just made a comparison between the Retro-Sonic and the Roger Mayer.
Conditions: clear sound amplifier, the two pedals and a stratospheric 76.
Findings:
Retro-Sonic Chorus is the true sound chorus immediately and with different dosages of knob intensity will be of enormous chorus chorus lightweight but still very typical Boss CE1 replica forces and that's why we bought it !
The chorus Roger Mayer, the opposite is true, we must look for the beautiful chorus and especially on the volume pot of bias but the sound is pure beauty except that in no case can get the sound of Retro-Sonic . But hey the reverse is true too. So you guessed it both the need and frankly the sound is fabulous and the two are complementary.
For the one who can take a Retro-Sonic to have the sound on the chorus and pure if Roger Mayer may be of benefit to the composition and find sounds more original. Anyway both deliver the pure juice noise-free and following the grain of the guitar is at the end.
Regarding the mode Vibes, the Retro is interesting but still well-typed and for the pure fact Leslie RM is best. Remember that the RM has an additional mode of the finest tremolo effect.
