Fender Blues DeVille
Published on 12/28/07 at 15:00I have been playing guitar for as long as I dare to remember. Been a working musican for 10 years. I use vintage guitars from Fender and Gibson. I'm not a big fan of distortion. Country, jazz and blues is my cup of tea..
I bought it used at the local musicstore back in -97
I have always prefered the sound of 10" speakers, and if you got four of them in an openback combo, you will be heard on any stage. The clean sound is not as sweet and full of character as the old Bassman 59', but I've think that it makes the amp more versatile.
This amp is VERY heavy!
The drivechannel is useless!
(then again, I don't like distortion..)

My amp is over 12 years old and has never let me down and I use it every day! But I change the tubes once every other year and my guitartech treats it like a baby..
I have tried just about all 4/10" combos on the market. For a classic clean tone that is suitable for any situation this amplifier is as good as it gets for the money.

Fender Blues Deville
Published on 07/31/01 at 15:00Bought second hand from a guitarist who had and was using live, both the 4x10 and 2x12. He sold me the 4x10 for £400 (~$600).
It sounded fantastic and I knew the moment I heard it that it was 'the clean sound' I was after. Previously used a Marshall VS100R which was not bad.
1. The fat clean sound - can't beat it.
2. The cool tweed/chrome retro look.
3. Classic, all valve Fender quality.
4. It is unquestionably THE blues amp.
Other than the valves (which cost a fortune if you get decent ones), it is difficult to service. It is heavy and just big enough to be a little awkward when climbing stairs etc.!

Excellent build quality. Preferred the old leather handle rather than the slightly cheesy plastic one, although it is very sturdy.
This really is the best blues/jazz amp around for the money. Larry Carlton and Robben Ford etc use Dumble amps which sound great, but not really that much better than the Blues Deville. I play a Tele and a 335 (copy) and both these guitars suit this amp completely - the fat clean sound from the semi is superb. I also use a GT3 effects unit which requires strange tone settings on a combo, but the Fender takes this in its stride also.

Published on 06/25/01 at 15:00Wanted a tube amp : got it new for 1000
swiss francs ( ~600 $ )
Good FAT sound. Got clean/overdrive/more overdrive channels.
12 inches speakers = loud sound
you can't switch off the reverb with the foot switch,
so the reverb stays the same. I know that on older
models it was possible but the more overdrive channel
didn't exist.
Heavy (35 kilos) but solid construction.
Sure I wanted a tube amp: got what I expected.
Next one will be a Mesa Amp, Around the same
price but a lot smaller.
Great gear if you got place where to put it.

Published on 06/25/01 at 15:00I bought this amp at a local music shop on sale for $650. I was looking for a cool tube amp and I loved the tweed finish on this bad boy.
First of all it sounds great. The clean channel is so sweet and bluesy. I play a Les Paul Standard and it is a great match for the tone of the amp. The drive channel is pretty good too if you mess with all of the knobs. Is definately not a heavy metal drive channel. The vintage tween finish is very cool looking!
I'd really like a bit more drive but that's not what this guy was made for and exactly what stop boxes were made for. It also weighs a TON!! It is VERY loud, to get some of the sweeter sounds you have to crank it up. People 3 states away can hear it when you do that. I've never had it over 5 and it goes to 12.
This thing is SOLID. It had better be, it weighs over 70 pounds. It has faired very well with 5 years of use and little damage
I almost sold this for another amp with more kick-a distortion but I couldn't part with it. The clean channel is to die for. If you are looking for great looks and vintage bluesy sounds with enough power to peel paint off the walls, this is the amp for you.

SOUNDS
It is typical for blues, rock or hot! Yet I have seen on dj scnes rather diverse musical styles.
Personally I only use the clean channel, but a friend I only use the crunch channel (only grows in saturation), dpend gots!
This is the hottest blue I know!
Phnomne important in terms of Dcibel, the receiver gives the impression to give the maximum power of the scale 4 (of 12), and even then, in his clear-we do that gain saturation and grain, which increases the feeling of recess volume.
OVERALL OPINION
Beautiful amp, the hritier shuffled between a Bassman and Twin Reverb, Aesthetics loquente sober but for lovers of tradition!
Small snag Finally 60 watts is almost too powerful! I think those who did not get to possder insonoriss premises may need be to turn to the blues deluxe (version 40 watts) which may be a little less but sincre probably more "controllable" in terms of volume. Indeed, there is no point buying a Blues Deville (for the price and weight levs) if not to the scale Exceeds 2 and use only the "Reserved mnimum" of the amp. LesLampes need to be heated!
So if you have the option to push the Deville and many do not deprive yourself!See less20 - FlatPublished on 06/25/07 at 11:44 (This content has been automatically translated from French)See below

Nice Bluesy tone

This is the go to amp if you want a tight low end for blues playing if you play a Fender Stratocaster. This one come with 4x 10 in speakers. You get the same great tone and features but just in a bigger unit and more speakers.
If you enjoy the tones and voicing of the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp but want a warmer for vintage style tone then this is the amp for you. I have been a fan of the Hot Rod deluxes for quite some time now. This amp is on par with that amp with the full rich bodied tone that is so reminiscent of records of old

The tone you get get with this amp is remarkable! It is jangly and dirty but will never play something out side of your guitar's natural tone. It compliment the tone of your guitar and doesn't take on a new character.
If you want a great tone for blues guitar just throw your guitar pickup in the neck postion and a nice Boss overdirve and you're there. However, the ultimate tone for this amp is a Fender Stratocaster and maybe a Ibanez TS9 or some other tubescreamer. This will get you a solid driving tone that just slams the front end of the band mix. Plus with with the extra dirty channel you can get even dirtier than that. Although I must say that the crunch channel of this amp is fair weak and sterile sounding. So my recommendation is to use a overdrive pedal slamming the front of the amp.
OVERALL OPINION
At new these amps come in at around $ 999, which is a little more than the Hot Rod series. If you are into the blues style tone and voicing and want a solid durable gigging amp then this is about the best you can get aside form some boutique builder. The tone is warm and full of driving blues tones that will get you excited to come home from work just to play the thing.See less20 - rrapphhPublished on 04/01/08 at 08:09 (This content has been automatically translated from French)All-tube amp (3 preamp and power 2) it has a 60 watt lamp!

SOUNDS
The sound is huge (Note that I have bought 2 * 12) round with a powerful attack on the good drive is more like a big crunch has what is meant by distortion but beautiful.
I use little or no sound clear or partly so I will not believe
the reverb is nice trs was really his fender.
by against this amp is not versatile he is his own love or hate.
I do not use it to blues to rock, but ind (punk with a cot). c lag but is sound and style that I like. I or reused with a fender telecaster.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it a year and a half depui
are lower wholesale power too levbr />
before I possd an epiphone 5 watt all-tube (this one not powerful enough) but I test a lot of amp before I decided this one I convinced by his sound all its own and I n is able to find anywhere else.
I bought it used (not the original c reissue) and a 700 seems a good quality price.
I would do this choice undoubtedly because this amp (rare in 2 * 12) has a particular sound which for me is not found on other modelsSee less40
