    Fender Stage 160 DSP

Fender Stage 160 DSPPublished on 12/01/03 at 15:00
I paid $641 total for a brand new one

This is a great road amp. As far as durability, it's the best I've ever seen. And, if you want loud, this is the amp for you. It has celestion speakers, so you don't have to worry about blowing them. The DSP is a plus too. It's nothing phoenominal, but I have alot of fun with it. It has wheels, so it's easy as pie to move around.

The distortion is just lousy. At jam sessions, I can't get the gain up past the third notch without getting insane feedback. It'll give you a great overdrive, but don't count on any heavy distortion without a pedal. There's an extra drive switch on it too. Don't even bother with it. It sounds even worse.

Besides the distortion, this is the most reliable amp I've ever owned.

This amp is worth every penny.

Transistor amplifier 160w with 2 HP Celestion GT12. The DSP module provides access to only effect a pre-set to choose from delay, chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo.
The 4-button footswitch allows selection of the clear channel / saturated, the Bosst overdrive, and reverb effects.
Extremely simple setting, for my part, I put the knobs of the equalization of 5 ... and go!
I put 8 because of the saturation. (The rest is new on my own, I do not use it!)

    UTILIZATION

Nothing is easier to use, no need for making st cyr, it is only amp.

    SOUNDS

Excellent clean sound even at high power, however the distortion is very fair and sorely lacking in color. A lamp (or tube for Anglophiles) would be welcome, once the investment in a good distortion becomes an almost absolute necessity.
The sounds are highly crystalline, the pink floyd or early Dire Straits, with a Start in the ass, it's concrete.
I, unwanted in the studio as on stage, coupled with a multi-effects, the speakers reflected that leave very little distortion (compared to a program on sound or even stereo headphones).
Of vintage aficionados call it a lack of character ... yes yes, but why exactly there are the vintage!
I find it ideal to play with sounds today.
In short, it's an amp go anywhere, as long as one does not address the heavy.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use this amp for almost 3 years. The sound is very good, the distribution of the spectrum is very impressive in its clear, the bass to treble, nothing is missing, it's almost hi-fi! I said ALMOST!
A little extra: the wheels, it's not funny but it simplifies life, especially at 5:00 in the morning when to bend the stuff!
A slightly more € 800 there is nothing to say. The hardware is solid, and + I find pretty.
To buy the closed eyes for those who, like me, playing in a pop-junk folder. For metal and bluesy, but well it is worth thinking about Hughes and Kettner and Marshall probably give you more satisfaction, respectively.

I got in a few test days is a mono amp with two 12 inch celestion g 100t and open back. Very compact and lightweight format.
3 analog channels (clean-drive-more drive, the latter being no adjustable) and generous digital effects section.
Footswitch for channel and reverb effects.
This machine delivers 160 watts ... I think this is a record. If this is too much you can disconnect one to have 100 hp w. ..

Effects loop and XLR output, note that the effects are the fender before the loop is a bit void because it would have enriched an external preamp with good internal effects m'enfin good.

It's a good concept, very usable or live band.

It's a good concept, very usable or live band.

    UTILIZATION

Simple, other effects that lack of clarity especially in dim light. The drive is more pre-set, fixed, therefore not say that it is appropriate for your guitar (not equal powerful pickups more volume, only gain. On the cons microphones means equal-gain good mix extra volume. .. It smells Fender .)

It's very easy to get good sound with this amp, as long as you have the choice (metal: Oust!) On bine. Separate reverb is cool, the remaining effects special effect rather than permanent sporadic.

The manual I do not know.

The power is there, but HP does not really follow high-volume, becoming slimy and rough. It is also aware of the shallowness of the amp and the fact that it is open (the membranes have no resistance from the rear).

    SOUNDS

Fender is marked above and not for nothing.
Royal is in clean fresh-punch-definition, even quite hot, and 160 w are not for nothing (useful for the magnitude of the assault).
In blues lightest It very well too, a little more clinical as well (no lamp) but with super sweet mids and intelligible, we hear you well (especially bread ...).
As we gain more drive gain and compression, but it's still very measured and medium.

The effects it suits me so I'm not going masses, cons by the reverb is great (several types, level adjustable), a more sacred.

I was still surprised by the quality of distorted sounds, reminds me of the deluxe 90112 that I once had but better, more open. It's not really what is said of a Fender, like what ...

    OVERALL OPINION

This amplifier is consistent, is not I-te-balance-all-in-the-face-and-doing-with-you kind line6 or roland cube.

Fender has done the right thing, focused its product.

I plugged in effect return a digitech genesis one (modeller), and good sound!

Brief play without getting cum question sounds or insufficient volume is a great amp, which saves your back and more.

Nothing to complain then, or when you stopped your bad choices.

Amp endearing in the end, besides, you will not find easily okaz. If you are in, look closely at HP, celestion is not really strong, especially in combo opened too many people put anything in the amp during transportation ca ... And, celestion or not is mortal!
