Danelectro DJ-17 PB & J Delay

Got this as a Christmas gift from Carroll's Music in Lewiston, ME. Paid, I think, around $40. Got it because it's cheap and my first pedal.

It's nice and small, and looks nice. Although my experience with delays is very minimal, I feel that this mini-pedal sounds great. The three dials allow a wide array of settings and sounds most of which all sound really nice. I'm not sure of the official name, but you can change the number of delays or echoes rather. This is key. One setting allows great Cure-esque descending and echoing riffs while the other will put you one step closer to Clapton and other rock legends.

Not much I don't like. The super fast Cure-like setting I mentioned before is sometimes too much to use for most stuff, but not too bad.

It's plastic, but feels tough. It scares me that you can shake it and hear things rattling a little bit. Because of its small size it is hard to turn on and off sometimes while in the heat of playing.

This is a great and ,best of all, cheap pedal. I recommend it to beginners and pros alike. However, shop around. You can pay anywhere between $20 and $60 for these buggers so don't get yourself ripped off.

UTILIZATION

The configuration is as follows:
1 MIX: who controls the intensity of the effect, ie the volume of repetitions with respect to its starting
1 potentiometer REPEAT: Who sets the number of repetitions
1 potentiometer SPEED: which regulates the speed of the echo, ie the difference between the repetitions
1 on / off button to activate or not the effect.
1 button for a long echo echo a short and vice versa
Negative pedal is quite small and the two buttons close enough, so be specific when pressed

SOUND QUALITY

sound, as most of the effects of echo / delay / reverb danelectro is fairly typical of the brand. I love it, but maybe some people will find their account. The effect is very scalable and very versatile. With the speed knob and the button to change echo, it covers a wide range of sound. personally I do not use the long echo and not the echo button to change but notice some tell it is very convenient. The only thing that could be regrettable is that the pedal does not start with self-oscillation of the repeat knob to maximum. I had to buy the song but I replaced it with a fab echo, so now I use the guitar and the possibilities are truly many.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years, but it is well to pay attention to knobs that tend to go the super glue rule quickly the problem though. I wanted to echo pedal not too expensive, with which I can adjust the speed, but not a delay in the boss too much to my taste, especially for what I wanted to do. The value for money is good for me, but today other trademarks are the echo / delay cheap, we should see what it's worth. At the time if I had more money I would Danecho the price, but I am still very happy with this pedal.

This is a digital delay (finally see the smallness of the size and components of the card without removing the pedal I think it's digital) very basic and nicely colored. The pedal is very small and turquoise, does not take space on your pedalboard and requires little care to handle it. A plastic cover protects your settings of your big toes but good pedal is really small then it will force you to act relaxed with her.

An in / out mono, a boss-type power supply, an on / off switch, another long delay / short delay. Simple, nothing to say.

The build quality looks good, I bought it used and it is in super condition: I will see the use.

UTILIZATION

3 buttons "mix / repeats / time" like any simple delay of the same type, the time varies from barely audible mode shorts 1.5s seconds (by ear) in long mode.

SOUND QUALITY

This delay is a basic, I quite like the sound of repetitions that is close enough to the originals, without degradation as kind of a bucket brigade delay (Memory Man, etc..) And not too bright either.

In my pedalboard it is wedged between the memory and the memory man toy, it does the job. Ah, yes, I have three delays in my pedalboard, ahem. Sorry.

It has one flaw, it does not go into self-oscillation repeat with the bottom, that's a shame.

OVERALL OPINION

I love the delays, I had tons and like I said I have three right now - in my music I use many techniques fripp repeats with the nearly full and I like the sound of delay of a delay if you see what I mean.

For 25-30 euros, I see not how much we can do better in terms of value for money ... The name is excellent (peanut butter and jelly was daring) and I find it super nice!

A small great product, it's what his older brother Dan-Echo, but the inversion time Short / long is a second push with the foot (the other is typically the on / off effect ), making it instantly goes from slap-echo that highlights the rhythmic echo long interspersed (echoing the black dot) for impressive solos. For this, we must not be taken too Repeat, otherwise it confuses the listener.
A super good for jacks up the case and not on the sides, it takes up less space and more importantly, you can log off without having to pedal pedal-board. Those who have had the problem in the middle of a concert know what I mean.

Of course, it's not worth an Echoplex or a TC2290, but the practical advantages (it should weigh three and a half grams, but it's tough) prevail.
I use typically with a semi-hollow Gibson or Gretsch semi-solid single-coil in a Telecaster in rockabilly or country.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had three months, I also have a Boss DD5, a Dan-Echo and Echo Park Line 6.
The Line 6 is on my pedal-board together, and PB & J is installed on my pedal-board "light", the one I take to jam with friends.
DD5 is the reform because of uncertain reliability, the Dan-Echo, too, because of excessive size and weight.
The only regret is that there is no tap-tempo, but no manufacturer offers the magic formula "tap-tempo + long / short foot" in a compact, only the fact but Line 6 in a format incompatible with most of the pedal-boards (both from the point of view of space as a supply point of view.
