«  Modern and powerful but not Metal: test! »

Tube distortion pedal, little sister of the famous Ibanez Tube King. Maybe not as sexy as the eldest in the eyes of some, but it has much more under the hood ...

UTILIZATION

Breeze. A: it is removed from the carton. Two: one laying somewhere where you can easily activate it by foot - personally I put it on the floor, but I heard that some people playing in positions most acrobatic, the Scotch on the wall. Three are the links to the area ...

Joking aside it's simple. Three-band EQ, a volume knob, gain, noise gate and a welcome named Void switch High / Low is equivalent to the control of Presence of the new model coming out - the white.

A word of caution with the gate: it is devilishly effective. You get rid of background noise, but set at a certain level, it also addresses your signal if it drags on. A relative, however. To get there you still have you in a good layer mettiez.

Otherwise its use comes down to this: it activates, it rotates, it sounds!

SOUND QUALITY

You want a modern, dynamic, with a huge headroom? But you will not want to equip you with a pedal where you would have inserted the word Metal above? I believe that King Tube is (by) for you.

I play on Blackstar HT5 (tube) and I like guitar an Ibanez GRG 170DX - a guitar from beginner to microphones not terrible that I've had five years but it holds up.

With the gain almost to a minimum and bridge pickup I immediately sound good Hard Rock. And when I say it's more Hard Rock Motörhead the first Blue Oyster Cult. Finally the mind more than the exact sound copy. With the Classic Rock adequate scratch is possible.

But personally I prefer it's still a little push. Not forcing the knob gain. Not worth it, too, for the past 12 hours its influence on the sound is less clear. Is the volume that will do the job - and yes it is the advantage of a pedal lamp. Position at 9. Play two or three shots. This is music that sounds good, it reacts to your attacks. Now exit south to reposition your best riffs and ... watch the walls shake!
This pedal has enough versatility to get closer - with adequate scratch again - bands like Zeke, Harvey Milk, Chruch of Misery or Turbonegro. Enthusiasts (Hard) Rock / Stoner you will find much in your account.

OVERALL OPINION

Try it! A pedal that sends stuff and where knob Level is really something. With the pickups of my guitar I found the distortion of Blackstar really rather weak. Not precise enough, lacking dynamics and certainly not strong enough - if I knew I would not use primarily on clean I bought a Blackheart, 100 € less expensive but that's another story.

The Tube King erases all that. This is my first distortion pedal lamp. I have a Metal Muff Electro Harmonix, a Marshall Jackhammer. Both have their qualities and their defects. Both have served me well these past 5 years. But by far surpasses that Ibanez. And above all they sound terribly wrong with the Blackstar while largely buried Ibanez distortion of my amp.

I've had almost two years and obviously I would do this choice. However I would still take a look at the Radial Tonebone Hot British / Classic. Even the Blackstar pedals - hoping they are better than the distortion of my amp which is supposed to be based on the HT-Dual.
