A friend asked me to "test" the pedal Ibanez PT9 80s, he inherited from his father, so I took the opportunity to share my opinion ...:

Once connected without other effects around, just amp (Blues Deluxe Reissue) / Pt9/guitare (Duesenberg Starplayer TV)
Slight hiss (normal), it clicks and then a buzz "acute" like a mosquito flying next to the ear or a hair dryer at the end of life is, it is quite unpleasant, but it can be adjusted with a noise suppressor ...
I start to play, casseroles, full chords / open, triads, etc. uninote.

I start to play, casseroles, full chords / open, triads, etc. uninote.
the sound is generally "matte" is lost in the presence and distinction Bass / middle / trebble, frustrating.
Then the pedal tends to "crunch" if you attack or stroke too phaser is too open, so that the treble-boosted on at some point, it breaks the ears.
The knobs are in all reagents.
The switch is super hard, it may appeal as displeasing, it depends on your taste, I bothers me because on stage, we do not necessarily see the pedals and did not really want to spend 5 seconds to press the swicth snaps for knowing that it must go faster ...

I then compared the ibanez with my MXR phase 90 amended (the amendment is to remove the crunch that the original product, much like the PT9 but less acute, removing the boost volume and make less "present", it then approaches the phase 45, more soft and smooth.)
So good I bought used 60 €, modif 'costs nothing since it involves removing components R28, C11 and C12. (Http://www.erikhansen.net/mxrphase90mods.php)
Well there is no photo, MXR wins hands down!
Already, it is more convenient: only 1 knob to adjust the stroke phase, so we can set foot in full concert and it was the most beautiful effect when reduced gradually phase velocity along the we play ... mmmh.
Then the sound is much clearer and more respectful of the original, and especially more "organic & water," what I want in a personal phaser ... that the "bubble" that softened the guitar. It does sound distorts more, so another good point compared to PT9 and complies with the dynamic whole (well, better than the Ibanez, because I still blame the MXR enough not to let pass "dynamic" part of the race suddenly we tend to lose in the presence, but Min '... for € 60)
    More boost his either.

In short, the only real advantage I found the Ibanez compared to the MXR is the access to the battery which is MUCH more convenient (for the MXR must completely remove the pedal ... but personally I am block of power supply 'so good ...)
I also did tests with pedal distortion / fuzz (Xotic BB + / Stom Under Foot Violet Ram's Head): same problem, that death and boost the highs are screaming ... the sound is really "dirty" ... I also tried with my compressor (Boss CS-3 mod 'Big Jack) engaged ... the sound is more "mate" .. short, disappointed.)

So in general, the Phaser Ibanez PT9 is more expensive for lower quality compared to the MXR Phase 90 modified.
    This is only my opinion,

    Ibanez PT9 PhaserPublished on 07/17/10 at 15:04
The Ibanez PT9 Phaser is a rare phaser pedal that is intended for use with electric guitar, but suitable for use with any electronic instrument. This is an analog pedal, with 1/4" connections for input and output. It has a battery compartment for a nine volt battery, and can also be powered by a nine volt power supply if you have one. This isn't a rack mountable piece of gear in any way.

    UTILIZATION

Using the Ibanez PT9 Phaser is really simple, as it's only got three parameters to work with. The parameters are for speed, width, and feedback, the latter two of which are pretty common for phaser pedals. If you have ever used a phaser effect before, you'll definitely know how to …

The parameters are for speed, width, and feedback, the latter two of which are pretty common for phaser pedals. If you have ever used a phaser effect before, you'll definitely know how to use this without having to do much research or playing around with it. A manual shouldn't be necessary with the PT9.

    SOUND QUALITY

As far as the actual sound of the Ibanez PT9 Phaser goes, it's pretty impressive. I won't say that it's my favorite, as I've used a lot of different phaser pedals out there, but it's definitely up there with the best of them that I've used. It's got a really really thick sound, and it's actual possible to get a good amount of differing sounds between only the three parameters. I've only used the PT9 in the recording studio, but certainly it's suitable for any type of use. While I don't think that the sound lives up to the price, but it is a very good sounding phaser.

    OVERALL OPINION

I don't know why there are so few of these out there, but for whatever reason it's pretty hard to get your hands on an Ibanez PT9 Phaser. For the same reason, the price of a used one of these is surely a lot. I don't think that it's worth the price based on the sound of the pedal alone, but if you're a collector and/or like rare pedals, this is a must have. For those of you who are looking to get a great phaser pedal without spending too much, there are plenty of options out there like the Boss PH-3 that can be had for a lot less than this one...
