I had this type of plate that I mounted on a standard Strat Mexican I had at the time, it is true that the sensation of sound is very different and more specific, the setting and the association of knobs is not obvious immediately, but it just fast enough.
it is very advisable in my opinion to use this type of microphone with clear sound or see a slight light + overdrive Blues genre beyond .... it's not very nice for the ears and the fluidity of what we play ....
but if you have the opportunity, there is a site online in USA that offers Gilmour Set with famous legendary microphones, plate and wiring for less than 400 Euro, you have a chance to escape 2 Customs and the 30% tax ... there are tricks, but you look .... and if you do the deal, for the reality of sound microphones, consider changing a little later than body of your Strat with a total and complete shielding for micro cavity and choose carefully the type of wood of the table ...

I use these pickups recently. I have installed a Fender Highway one TARS instead of Tex Mex pickups. I also have a G & L tribute S500 sounding thunder to compare.

Installs:
For starters, the kit is very easy to install. For my part, I'm a little annoyed because I put microphones on the old aluminum plate I had. Otherwise everything is easy, just plug are small pin very well finished and let's go is screwed back.

Sound:
What I like about these pickups is that they are extremely accurate, all the nuances of the game out very well.

They are also very versatile with atypical knobs that allow various combinations of sounds. We quickly find what slamming Gilmour on some tracks.

Distortion is in mortal means well feature microphones and especially NO BUZZ or hum! It's magic for a strat!

The knobs are nice enough fiddling, you may even find his electro acoustic removing all medium and boustant treble / bass. The races of those is very accurate and scalable.

The criticism that I have to do the microphones is that we lose this spirit fortification, a little heat but this is offset by the sound quality, power and silence microphones are lost. It is a matter of taste and above all they are much more versatile than vintage pickups. Again, it all depends on what you seek.

My strat is totally changed, I'm super satisfied!

How long you use it?

I bought the plate EMG DG20 few days ago, my team is Fender Stratocaster Vintage 62 'reissue. I found the pickups origins of my guitar great but a bit too "dry" and "slap" for my taste!

DG20 kit is super easy to install, tinker a guitar to 1800 € scared me, but ultimately it's really simple, just take your time! And no need to solder, has everything to do not see need

As many have suggested I put up the drumkit in the vibrato instead of the central spring!

Did you tried many other models before buying it?

I have tried a lot of Strat 'with different mics, which are the only concurrency, and it is only my personal opinion, what are the Gold Lace Sensor. I have the advantage of having a friend who has exactly the same guitar as me, which made it possible to compare the two guitars on the same amp, one after another, and I must say that the EMG are quickly pass the Vintage 57 '62' for Micro bland! (Personal opinion always)

What is so special that you love the most, least?

The most:

- Ease of assembly
- The look of the pickups (I do not like the look of the original Fender pickups)
- The sound, super versatile, halfway between vintage and modern.

Cons:

- Not bad breath

How would you rate the quality / price? With experience, you do again this choice? ...

Good value for money.

I remake that choice without a doubt .... but another favorite can happen quickly!

The kit outfitted a custom shop strat mapple neck that I bought in 1998 occas.

It's perfect. There was no grain pure stratovolcano (SRV exple) but and this is logical because it was designed by Gilmour were all the sounds of Floyd suptils.

Intermediate position (mic1 mic-2 and 2-3) was a grain of crazy and you can play Dire Straits faithfully.

Side setting is subtle, since the pot in the middle is an equalizer that boosts the bass and treble and the bottom of the pot swells the middle.

I think my kit is wired wrong because on the bottom microphone equalizer only the medium is operational.

The possibility of sound is almost infinite. When you put the pot thoroughly equalization médieum we gain 12 db I believe (see) and there was almost humbucker. The adjustments are very precise (each graduation account) and the kit gives the best kind of amps fender lamps.

Not a single interfering noise, silence pots thoroughly!

I always play this guitar and me not be separated.

In August 2010. I have not tried before, except strato Mexico '70 in its original version, not bad for that matter.
I love the most: his impeccable, with no hum and sustain looooooong.
Like least: the look-pearl / perloïd to reflections in all directions, which is not very true of a strato Mexico to € 600. But it may be subjective.
Value: it was worth the money, more hum, strato sublimated but you lose a certain roundness of sound, which is even more sensitive on models '50 and '60. I kept my original mics, you never know ...
With experience, you learn to weld, to select and match them microphones, preamps etc. to mount. and it was a little more in so we bought more expensive microphones, hand-rolled, and we do everything from A to Z, so we did not refer the same choice simple, practical and effective.
It's almost a shame.

I mount this on my plate except Highway 1 Start for a year. I n'tais particulirement not looking for the sound of D. Gilmour, seeking plutt amliorer the sound of the Stratocaster. The cot of this there is no risk of being the (except mounting the plate on a Jim Harley) and fortunately, because the investment is consquent in new and rare opportunity.

The first contact by opening the box is a matter of taste. EMG provides a three-ply sheet of quality but perloide white boxes with mismatched micro ivory (odd, there is pout of EMG SA white) but hey, you get used to the long run.
First advantage of the kit, there is little welding done only at the output jack and battery, the rest of the plate as Fully cable and fix (pickups, knobs, slecteur). Widely affordable by most of those who are accustomed to their cable jack rpar.

Then, 11 screws, strings and the pleasure of hearing his strat transfigured. Free MP3, believe me, but the layer becomes more versatile. Without touching anything, it maintains a sound strat (phew!) Especially in position 1, 3, 5, just under 2 and 4 but without it being catastrophic.

Then the two knobs for tone, replaced by an EXG expander and SPC booster, will allow to explore new world of sound on a Start.

The EXG expendeur removes mdiums and increases the bass and treble (with power output of active-channel saturated with the slamming of a layer, this is trs INTERESTED).

The booster boosts mdium medium (si! if!) And allows the maximum a single EMG SA made to approach the output of a humbucker (watch closer, not gallery).
As everything is progessive, it allows a lot of rglages ...

Last but the absence of extraneous noise, you can let go the ropes and dene to hear the slightest hum.

Only inconvnient the battery. Fortunately it lasts a long time, one year for mine but if it is placed in the dfonce of knobs, the change requires removing the strings and the eleven dvisser plate screws and vice versa. Mrs once a year, this quiet ...

There is a simple trick to avoid this, without going through the installation of a battery case by a luthier. Just reverse the output jack plate and screw the jack upside down. The output jack is the collection's outdoor body of the guitar and the small plate dfonce output jack is free to put the 9v battery. Dvisser only two screws without touching the strings to change the battery, it is more convenient, even if your strat becomes less standard (prvoir question of curiosity). The IDE is not mine but a council of Chenaouy Kamel in his book Guitar maintenance.

This plate is CHRE (too?) Otherwise I would have given it 10 but once installed on a good strat (Mex Sunburst Highway, US std ...), I do not think one can regret this acquisition.

- How long have you use it?
I use it for one month on an American Deluxe Stratocaster.

- What is the particular feature you like best and least?
The clean sound is amazing, brilliant, warm, with the expander really found its classic Start, but with more depth and substain. The sound is saturated with rev Floydien especially Mid boost, trs own position 1 and 2 trs are warm and the 4-position offers a lot of harmonics for a more vintage. There's no real flaws, but it is difficult to obtain saturations more aggressive but hey you can not have everything!

Have you tried many other models before acqurir?
Yes I had a plate at the beginning texas ave two spcial pearly gate and then I used a plate with two deluxe noiseless and DH-1

- How do you report qualitprix?
I think the plate is too CHRE in France! 400 euros is when even the price of a good beginners guitar. But if you sell your old plate and that the achte on Ebay (250 euros) investment becomes much more reasonable.

- With the exprience, you do again this choice?
OOOOUUUUUIIIII !!!!! but I would also try to SL20 Lukather APRS which is what they say a great plate.

This kit is excellent if you want to get a clean Start sound without background noise with a high output

Saturation, one approaches the sound of a P 90, the precision and more ... All notes stand out, which implies a precision in the attack on the right hand ...

The day and night with all the other single-coil microphones I've tried ...

The signal is very powerful, allowing to chain much effect one behind the other without losing its ...
Assets:

Cons: It is necessary to remove the strings and the plate to replace the battery that powers the preamp ...

I mounted this kit 3 months ago on a highway a key strat maple.
For the sake of brevity, I will only note the main positive and negative that I found.

Assets:
- Impeccable finishing kit in welding, wiring of different components, it is very pro
- Easy installation (although on a highway as he nearly disassemble the handle because of the famous 12th fret which makes the heel of the neck extends into the plate).
- The range of sounds that can be achieved is amazing, though a bit too strong upward medium (metal refrain).
- The level of signal obtained is far superior to the original equipment microphones highway.
- The knobs are not all or nothing, the progressivity of the effect is perfect.
- Total absence of hum.

Cons:
- Breath still quite embarrassing for the recording studio when you push a little boosters (for the scene, it's still acceptable).
- 9V battery box under the plate is a shame because it takes everything apart to change it (even if the handle of the highway). Fortunately it lasts longer and there the solution (which I will apply the next change) is to transfer the central spring of vibrato and put in place.
- Aesthetics of the plate perloïde color associated with the EMG cream is doubtful.

For description, see the website EMG. I installed two days ago this kit on a Vigier Excalibur Supra with his own bland but I dcevait. Then, it's a vamp! The sound is poustouflant! A true sound of strata, round and generous, I would say "organic" but with a certain modernity net, precise, dynamic. My VIGIER, which I love the comfort, life and sky is clear now takes a true modern strat personals. Amp plugged directly into a lamp is beautiful in its clear and crunchy, distorted with incredible sustain. Beware, the bridge pickup used only lack of level (as all strata elsewhere), it is impracticable to exploit the height of the 3 microphones to adjust levels. I COMPLT the kit with a switch that allows you to force engagement of the neck pickup which can have 2 sounds very interesting supplmentaires: neck pickup and bridge pickup + neck + middle + bridge. I use the EXG Knob halfway constantly Knob SPC and as a booster for the solo part to get out of the mix. In conclusion, since i was 20years tank on active EMG pickups, here I am conquered.
