Published on 03/04/12 at 04:55I just bought a microphone set Schaller Golden 50 dat 1992 (Chroms caches), used as new, they clearly do not or very little used (achets a forum member who did not use them, his team will have 535 Heritage Gibson 57 since the departure). The Impedance of microphones is between 7.6 and 7,7k on the neck pickup and 8.2k on the bridge pickup, they are Alnico 5 "potted" (with wax to reduce feedback and other buzz) , lets imagine a well dfinis sounds rather orients blues-jazz-rock (not too much gain)
So I mount the microphone on my Ibanez AF75 that the base more than correct adj microphones.
I had a lot of guitars to compare, well it is true that my references are rather simple microphones guitars, but I just am very particular about humbuckers who always t Me too touffs on a Gibson SG Standard I t sound enough dfini, smothered the neck pickup (even with Tone maximum), the bridge pickup Gibson was well however not be exceptional. The original pickups FY 75 are not bad when used together in the middle position, the moment he is very good, but when played separately, the neck pickup missing of definition and attack and acute enough sharp, too mdium ... but they are more than correct ...
With Schaller Golden 50, the guitar into another field, all microphones positions are sublime, I redcouvre guitar with a real velvety neck pickup and a good effort, low but still well well dfinies c is ar and grain ... it's hard to dcrire a sonority but we feel free guitar.
The middle position is Idale for beautiful rhythmic or do the old blues BB King, on this type of guitar Caisse prefers remains my position, it's hot, vintage ...
The bridge position is sublime for rock, of very sharp sounds, I say no because slamming treble are gentle on the ears but there nevertheless has everything you need as acute (I say this as accustomed to the very sharp single coil).
I feel that anything can happen with these pickups, they have superb definition, grain, they are not bland personality without yet they respect the instrument and not the sound you dnaturent can be expected.
For rsumer I would say it is superb for my guitar mics (mics are always test on a prcis model), but I think they would be good on many other guitars (SG would t turns with these microphones !!!), the sound is really "ar and guitar" breathes "with really ...
Given the bargain price of the guitar and microphones (150 AF75 and the 60 for the microphones set with the shipping costs, or 210 in total), I have a fabulous guitar ... he n 'There is no Gretsch logo or Gibson but the sound and the finish of the guitar have nothing to envy cousins amricaines ... !!!
Schaller pickups are affordable, this is the price that made me buy (I knew but not seen on what guitars they are original mounts I have not hesitated ...!) Everyone turns to the most known brands and these pickups are unfairly mconnus.
I thought buying Gibson or Seymour Duncan 59 Used but sellers are too greedy, then I thought to buy cheap kind GFS pickups or other copy bam made in china, but the new price was equivalent good used microphones (if only one is patient).
I would do this choice, of course, for a price drisoire I have a great set of high quality microphones that allows me to apprcier my guitar on all microphone positions, each position has its charm.
I think these microphones is not directed to the Mtal (not enough gain), but rather rock, hard rock, blues, jazz, the pickups are pretty versatils and adapt well, they are Compars with Gibson pickups 57 and SD 59 Americans on forums, they seem to be recherchs the US, here they are mconnus and that's good because they allow dnicher low set price ... !!!
