«  I finally found my microphones for R9 »

Published on 06/11/13 at 01:31
It's been a while since I looked for my worthy pickups Gibson R9 (59 historic reissue). The original Burstbuckers sounded ... say ... blah. Nothing magical. So, I turned to Bare Knuckle. First of Mule ... Hmm. Then I put a Rif Raf in the bridge position. Yuck. Mules rang ... how to say ... I found the sound "stuffy". Serious and rough neck pickup, better bridge but hey, no mojo. The RifRaf is too steep for my taste. I even tried the crawlers in a typical config Jimmy Page (microphones and split, out of phase, series, etc ...). Not convinced. My R9 took dust. I even said that I was going to separate (and I love it!).
And then I tried the gamble: that I buy SD Bonamassa Custom Shop. I do not have received that I already said that they would end up on the right corner or eBay in stride. But he had to try. I agree with you 500 euros for microphones to be dork limit. But I had to end up ringing the beast, it was not possible otherwise.
Well, now, once installed, it has the mouth. They are slightly older, like the rest of the hardware of the shovel, it fits perfectly. I finished the settings.
There, I plugged in and it was a slap! Neck pickup is creamy, smooth, defined, not "stuffy" for a penny, it's just beautiful. Bridge pickup, well, I have everything I always wanted: it responds to the attack, it's not garish, just beautiful too.
To clear the set Jimmy Page (mics only have 2 connectors, like the old 59). It's simple, authentic, delicious. My R9 finally comes into its own, it is love at first sight.

My only regret: I was hoping to get some in selling them. Will have to find another way because I'm not ready to part with.
