Or rather big fan of the Fender sound, I have the chance to play at home on a champion 600 of 1953, a tweed field 1957, a field blackface silverface from 1966 and 3 from 1969 to 1976. I know, I'm torn!
Moreover, giving guitar lessons, I was looking for a small amp easy to carry around and I'm tempted by a champion 600 vintage modified OCCAZ (fortunately occaz because ...)
The beast was the original model that the look and appellation for the rest, it is very far from what it is supposed to provide. For the price you tell me, do not mess about! but why Fender sells boxes containing foie gras duck mousse Asian decent but nothing more?
Anyway, after some research on the net, I bought a kit on Ebay alnicomagnet allowing me to modify the circuit PCB, replace the low-end components that let you go without warning and go easier, I change the Hp by Jensen MOD6.
Great improvement but it still was not it.
So I went to blow everything up and redo the old circuit and having heard great things about the HP Weber, I thought why not?
So it's simple, you order online live in the USA, Hp costs $ 48 and the port almost as in principle it pisses and pray that customs does not add a sauce.
The Hp arrived 10 days later, I ordered a 6-inch E-alnico ref 6SigA warm, crunchy, early breakup, aggressive.
Mounted, I turn on the amp and I bough without anything else, my Telecaster and there, everything changes, it crunch, the bass is present, there is at last!
There's no picture, if I have an HP one day change on one of my tweed or make one, it's need to Weber. I find that much P8R Jensen is doing really well in Blackface or Silverface field models that have not intended to crunch away but only in the corner, this is the circuit that does this and that n is not the spirit of these amps if you want to respect their designer, as Weber is perfect for those who want to get into it fairly quickly without the police knocking on the door.
Well, I regret that Weber is not distributed in France which simplifirait things well because psychologically it is better not to know how to decompose the selling price of the product made in France.
In any case, I do not regret my purchase, quality has a price!
