Published on 10/29/11 at 07:28Dimarzio the company most known for its pickups also makes other guitar accessories. This is one of their most popular non pickup item. This is the Dimarzio Cliplock. This is a very easy way to have a locking strap on your guitar. It is designed to be used with multiple guitars as well. There is a portion permanently attached to your guitar and then the rest of the strap clips on to that. So you can attach the attachment points to many of your guitars and then transfer the one strap between them. The standard Dimarzio Cliplock is 2 inches wide, with a length adjustable from 43 inches to 63 inches (109 – 160 cm.) This length includes the attachments on the guitar. Compared to more modern straps the strap itself is not that great. It feels like a seat belt and does not have very much grip. It is also not very wide on the standard model. I know for a while they made a wider version but they are hard to find and are not offered in as many colors. The clips are plastic and will wear out eventually especially if you are using a heavy guitar. They make a model with metal clips but those are also hard to find and like the wide model it also does not come in many colors. Personally if I was playing a heavy Les Paul or something I would not use these straps. The part that is permanently attached to your guitar tends to scratch up the finish because it will just freely spin around. I feel if you have a high end guitar you should get a high end strap for it and attach it permanently with a set of washers from a hardware store. If you do not need the ability to transfer the strap from guitar to guitar just permanently attaching it with washers is a good option because it will be much more secure than this Cliplock system.
