Battery-powered headphone amplifier for up to 3 headphones

Well, this is not my first headphone amp (Fostex PH-5, Fostex PH-50, Samson Q5) and it will not last (he'll need a rack) but now I needed a that runs on batteries for outdoor applications and this is the only Sound Devices that are capable to my knowledge. So, again, no choice.

What is shocking about this first model is the first sound. And, believe me. The fact that the bandwidth can be expanded to meet the curve, the limits of human hearing (20 - 100 and 16 - 18,000 Hz). Result is defined treble and bass more defined. It is not artificially inflated, no, but actually an extension of the frequency extremes. It is a sound tailored for high definition sound (24-bit 192 KHz).

The housing is compact, with a wonderful grainy surface and screen printing money which is the most beautiful effect. It's metal, it's tough, it is provided to all kinds of outdoor adventures. Connectors Jacks 6.3 even have a thread I did not know that there are screw-jack cables.

The sound input is either via the pair of balanced XLR or jack from a stereo or 6.3 or from a stereo jack 3.5 and leaves the apparatus via a stereo jack 6.3 feed another amplifier cascade headphone: injury . I think they could have put in place of the XLR combo XLR - TRS Jacks 6.3, which would have allowed to use two jacks TRS outputs instead of inputs - outputs in stereo, which would could further professionalize the quality of the product.

Its advantages:
- Battery operated (2 AA alkaline), rare! Range: around 10 hours (like my Nagra Ares-ML 4 GB for the same number of AA batteries).
- Can also be mains.

Disadvantages:
- They could have put combo XLR - TRS jack instead of XLR short and they could have put 2 TRS jacks out cascading sound, damage
- They have also been able to put a mini-stereo input meter with Peak, between 3 and 5 segments no longer is enough.
- The AC adapter is optional.

The sound is so exceptional that I'll order the AC adapter so I could also use the studio. A highly recommended product. It is a bit expensive, yes - but not so much that eventually - but it is well worth its price.

It is cloned: Superlux HA3D (about 1 / 3 cheaper), but I can not guarantee that it has also 120 dB dynamic range and 10 to 50,000 Hz bandwidth, I doubt it. In my opinion, he may have the minimum quality standard (80 - 90 dB dynamic 20 to 20,000 Hz bandwidth).
