I acquired this set in the 80's and have coupled (too) rare JBL 4320 studio monitor speakers. The very high efficiency of the latter makes the large pool of redundant power amp and offers a response it is better to temporize by an equalizer if it has a reduced volume. If I do not consider that the preamp offers anything special, the amplification stage is really of great clarity and I quite agree on the principle of a direct source still enslaved by good sound Shaper ADC II, the benchmark EQ professionals ... The clarity and linearity of the distilled low cocktail LV 504 (or 502 which is the version without the huge VU meters) and are then JBL 4320 copies.
If it again, I would simply less power, would spend a small tube amp ... and above would keep the JBL!

At Hi-Fi, I paired it with Cabasse Wing (I think) a good model for large membrane 12. "With that, I sound rather dry and punchy, I like. I do not grow really the volume: 2x170W in a room of 16m2, it's true it's a bit oversized, but when you love, you do not count
I use this pair of devices almost daily, either for audio or for Front (L & D) of the video: I have indeed used the output pre-amp out of my amp audio decoder video to send to the preamp input Line1 Onkyo.
So, for the Hi-fi, I have a real HiFi system, and the video, I take my setup with the front channels G and D before, no need to have everything double. Over 10 years I use it like that, do not worry

Small flats anyway: I have a recording potentiometer which is no longer on the prémampli: a screw to flee somewhere.
And my lights VU meter released at me every few months ago about two years. Well, it's not too serious is not what changes the sound ...
I will keep all wear to its complete and irreversible: in my case it is more than enough to make me happy audiophile base.
