Beautiful example of Engineering
Published on 09/09/21 at 10:502 photosI picked a pair up that had sat for 15 years. I restored them from the ground up. All cabinet seals, driver seals and mounting hardware are new. Internal wiring updated to Kimber. New center surrounds and the T33 tweeters cleaned with new fluid. The Teak cabinets were cleaned and refinished, the grills recovered.
This is the best classical speaker I’ve owned. They image better than any speaker I’ve owned. The two very anemic 8” woofers produce an incredible low end. Just a terrific design. The midrange and top end is very smooth and detailed. There’s nothing dated with this speakers sound. It can still hold its own against new designs.

I’ve powered my pair with Nakamichi, Hafler, Yamaha, Rotel and Crestron. The Nak is my preferred with the 104/2. It’s a very sweet balanced sound.See less00 - marechal des logis chefPublished on 12/17/08 at 14:59 (This content has been automatically translated from French)I also have these speakers 104 / 2 Reference Series since 1987.

These speakers are stable and particulirement trsdtailles and this whatever the volume! No projection, a very serious farm (thanks to the housing kube supplied with the speakers), low medium rather deep and sharp trsdtaill medium rather excellent.
But behind the dcord these speakers do not forgive anything on wrong sources;
and the medium rather can be quite aggressive, he must choose his cd's and vinyls.

The only complaint is the too-efficient 94db / m (personal feeling) for a
without the personal cost drang voisins.Je prfere performed relatively
low 85db / m ex, which allows for the scale by pushing the volume without
project the sound (in a small pice) and experiencing problems with the neighborhood.
I do not regret that choice, APRS and many costs dcevantes pregnant.
the kef 104 / 2 are still sacred today REFERENCES!
More upscale finish did not move, the veneer is perfect.
Good qualitprix the era (about 18000f, 00 pairs of the era
The box with the kube).
Well-sr c'tait dj a certain price, but remember that c'tait Reference Series.
In a pice of 20m2, properly installed you pass moments of musical costing enough
great.
Good choice no regrets, Kef remains my choice may be B & W one day ...See less30
