« Zildjian Z-custom 14" hi-hats »
Published on 10/04/02 at 15:00I acquired these hats through a trade (I traded an A-custom 20" ride for the hats and a z-custom 20" power ride). So I can say that I paid around 125 for them. Awesome deal!
The sounds out of the hats are truly great, especially for rock, the music their designed for. They're plenty loud, but not piercingly loud. Zildjian really hit the mark when desinging these. Great chick, and when completely open, they resonate very well without gaining much volume.
My only complaint is a very small one. I think others have listed it on their reviews also. The cymbals are prone to stick marks and fingerprints, and seem to bear these eariler on than other cymbals. Other than that these cymbals are near perfect.
z-customs are generally thicker cymbals that use a hammering technique to critique the sound. The construction itself is flawless on my pair, and it would take a pretty good whack to crack one of these. In other words, extremely durable.
Overall I would recommend these to anyone who's playing drums for any style of rock. I've used these for classic rock, alternative, metal, funk, and punk rock, and the hats did awesome in every one. A very high-quality set of hats that anyone would be proud to own.
