I bought this guitar off the shelf at Mainely Music in Ellsworth, Maine. I paid $489 for it with Epiphone Hard Case and 90 degree Cord.



I really like this guitar. I have had a Gibson Les Paul guitar, and I really find that this guitar sounds Really, Really Nice. I realize that it is not the Gibson 335, but for about 1/4 of the price of a NEW Gibson 335, you just can't beat it in sound, playability, attractiveness, and price!!! The one I bought is Ebony with Chrome Hardware. It has sealed machine heads, Stop Bridge Tail Piece, 2 volume, tone knobs, and a 3 way toggle switch. The sound produced by this guitar is very nice and can really kick it up if given the opportunity.



I don't really like the knobs, nut, or toggle switch. The knobs, and toggle switch probably are the most noticeable for their alleged "cheapness". If Gibson would raise the price just a little, put on the Grover Machine Heads, a better quality nut, and put on the good pots and switch, this guitar would be every musicians dream unless you need to be the one that always has to pay for the advertising and "status" of the Gibson.



The construction and finish of the unit was near total perfection. I didn't find any faults with contruction or quality. The contruction is very solid with a wood block support running up the center of the guitar on the inside. The finish is very glossy. Very attractive guitar.



I would buy another one if something ever happend to this one. It is one BEAUTIFUL guitar! It plays and sounds like a dream. Very good sound. Stays in tune with no problem, as for the machine heads. I have had this guitar for about two months and it is everything I expected and more. I wouldn't have expected much more out of an actual Gibson! If you are completely loaded and your limo driver will drive you to the music store, get the Gibson, but for the rest of us, the EPIPHONE DOT 335 IS THE ONE FOR YOU!

Purchased this guitar from a Musician's Friend catalogue (on special). I paid $369US for the guitar.



I like the playability (low action) of this guitar for jazz chord-melody playing. Also the cherry finish with gold hardware. The Epiphone gold hardware doesn't hold up very well, but it sure looks good when it is new!



The guitar is heavy and best played sitting down. I would hate to have to carry it around my neck for a long set.



The guitar seems to be well made and I did not find any flaws in workmanship or finish.



A great, eminently playable guitar for many different types of music - I use it for jazz. I feel that I received good value for my money and look forward to many hours of enjoyment playing this instrument.

I use it for 4 years.

I first t surprised by the size of the body (I played mainly on solid body) and it became an advantage parcqu'elle keeps your back straight when playing seated.

Review and note the characteristics?! All that is more standard. Seem consistent copy of the 335 pre 62 '(INLAYS round instead of trapezes, not net the key ...) hence the name DOT ... Mine has Grover - not bad normally.
On my DOT, the finish is excellent. None other than the default of E Epiphone on the plate protective p'tit ask a little glue. But it's really an insignificant detail ...

I had the chance to try two identical to the store that day. Fortunately for that matter!

UTILIZATION

Great surprise, the handle is perfect for me. Being pro-hyper Fender used the sleeves of my Strats, I have been baffled by playing on the Epiphone. I found my bearings super fast! And that's hardly the case with other Epiphone and Gibson on which I had the opportunity to play. For example, the handle of the Sheraton repulses me! That of the Dot seems less wide - less big "stick" as the Sheraton. For someone just like me Fender in the world is significant.

This guitar is obviously intended use rather Rock'n'Roll and Blues (Chuck Berry, BB King, Clapton in the early stages have used or still use). It is of course recommended for metalheads ... is a semi-hollow, not a shred to Ibanez!

One recognizes the sound of a typical semi-hollow. This "clonk" in the attack of the notes and the warm sound. But this is not the sound of a real 335 ... Not that this guitar is totally incompetent, but it is restricted by the microphones. Because the microphones are drinking origins, but they are still true:

The bridge pickup to a good offense, quite incisive. It sounds good in overdrive for a well rock. But is a bit rough if you push the gain. But surprisingly, it still provides quite a bit with a large distortion. The output level is quite important for an Epiphone PAF. I blame him p'tit a lack of brightness and a lack of bass. So in summary for the bridge pickup, it holds water if one is not too demanding.
For the neck pickup, Jazz or Blues in use it works well. But no more. For higher gain, it's too fat and too much draft.

The 335 is finally living! All the defects mentioned above are gone. Now I get the typical sound of a good semi-hollow 335 type. It's punchy, it's not drooling and it's very defined, yet very warm. Also, I added a split, and split as the Dream 180. In this case, the sound palette is very broad thanks to its single coil obtained after split - always keeping the sound warm and round the side of a typical semi-hollow but also "clear".
Similarly, the nut is a true original stew in which food plastoc sound, changing nut really unbridled guitar. Everything has become immediately more defined and better balanced. As the acoustic power much higher!

OVERALL OPINION

This is a recent purchase. For a long time I was eyeing the side of a 335. I bought it for a different sound to complement my Strats. And I'm not at all disappointed. For the price (269 €), it is incredible to have a guitar as good. While I consider a change of microphones quickly, I think it is quite usable as it! A beginner will find his account as a pro willing to have a guitar with a good violin to lay the microphone of choice. For I am sure she will excel with good pickups (GFS or Gibson, for example). But this long to come across well over a DOT and that sounds good. For I repeat, store, both DOT did not sound as well as one another. I have not taken that sounded less (low less clear, less bright treble, its overall less dynamic) and the finish was not as good. Compared to the Sheraton - comparison made systematically - the finish is as good. The hardware is identical. Only the finish is more "luxurious" on the Sheraton. But in my humble opinion, the violin is also generally good. The upgrade of the microphones is also interesting that the DOT on the Sheraton. Ultimately, it may be possible that quality control is more advanced on the Sheraton and it still remains to be seen ...
Also the color Cherry (335 color what!) Is available on the DOT!

Guitar trs enjoyable to use. It's my body and half Premire j'apprhendais getting started, but in fact, spent much trs trs. It is lighter than my LP.

The bridge is impeccable in my opinion but I am not a luthier. In contrast, seem mcaniques averages. They take the agreement for the moment, but I'm afraid of aging. We feel much diffrence in the quality from those of my Gibson LP.

SOUNDS

This is where I am totally bleuff. Microphones books are not as bad as I expected. It sounds circular, ss dynamics is equilibrated in the clear on my peavey classic 30. On the micro serious lamps + the fund has given a round and warm, it is superb. It's even a little crunch with sustained attacks. It snaps in acute if you pull some strings at the bottom. It's really enjoyable. Playing more lightweight, we obtain a round and warm, ideal for the jazz.
Joint position, the sound is more neutral and can play more in the spirit electro acoustic (well, nothing EXAGRES either). Finally, there are a few of the nasal sound of micro acute CHARACTERISTICS gibson, with a little less dynamic when same.

When going on a sustained overdrive, the micro acute takes the advantage with a grain and warmth caratristique. Ideal for the rock of ZZ Top is powerful, bold, and the body brings a surplus of non ngligeable sustain. Personally, I love.

Of course, needless to say that if you are looking for a metallic sound, to be saturated, crystalline, go your way.

Dernire small note: I russi ringing my Marschall MG100DFX! If so, it's true. Well, should not expect miracles, but frankly the silent sound acceptable. This is to say what brings the cash in terms of roundness and warmth ...

OVERALL OPINION

I have since before yesterday. I was able to compare with my gibson LP and my Fender Start Mex Classic Player 60. I wanted a guitar with a sound diffrent and frankly, I am well served. I think for the price would have a hard t get any better. The violin is really pretty and I think that by changing the pickups to the Gibson, sounding honestly could IDAL. APRS has piphone rest of the equipment level. Honntement, his cot is really good trs.
I tried a Yamaha AES620 home, and also a peavey MODEL. There was a grain but is was less characters, or too c'tait draft.

Frankly, I will talk a little more perspective, but what I would do this choice, frankly, without hsiter.
