Gibson B.B. King Lucille

I bought this guitar about a year ago online at music123 for $1750.00 because I wanted a guitar that was great quality and something I could play rock and blues on.

I love this guitar for it's great quality. It's got spectacular hardware, including some of the best humbuckers I've ever tried. Great neck action, but you might want to change the strings to a lighter guage. Also, it has the truely awesome Gibson pros; the great headstock, extremely solid tone, and the classic bridge. This semi-hollow body guitar is the best of the best. Come-on! B.B. King even uses it!

It's a little expensive, but it's worth every penny.

In his clear, it sounds really warm and clear, as Gibson knows it. Perfect for the James Brown funk. I really in crunch blues sound perfect. Gibson Lucille ... "BB King".

A selector pickups: neck or bridge or combination of both.
Two volume knobs and acute (one of each for each micro ... as always with Gibson).
The bridge has a "fine-tune" (allows tuning "fine" with the right hand).
A 5-position rotary switch (I think) used to filter the sound (at each step the sound loses a little more thickness).

It is made in the United States but for the rest, I can not say that they are fitted to the microphones that, what is the timber (body, neck ...) and the mechanical model.

UTILIZATION

His grip is instantaneous.

The handle is very nice, "comfortable" even.
Access to treble is much easier than on a Les Paul (you can access the "LA" without playing fakirs) but less than a SG (or even the "If" is accessible without spraining a wrist).

Its weight is reasonable even if in reality it is quite heavy: it is perfectly balanced.
When I against you, I did not feel like a big hand in the guitar. It handles easily and forms seem made to fit those of the person who plays ... Super.

Nothing to say about the mechanics, it do their job and do it perfectly.

The fine-tune, although dispensable, is ultimately a really nice touch.

SOUNDS

The guitar sounds perfectly clear sound-even if it is not where I expect this kind of Gibson.
It even has a superb round in his position micro "serious".

It really takes off in the sounds and crunchy (very) nice surprise, it sounds particularly good in his (s) saturated (s). Or better for my taste (no body) that my Les Paul Standard (92).
Best of all, is to sustain the appointment ... so much so that my Les Paul often tends to remain on its stand.
I play with either a field, a Bassman, or a one Tremolux Engl "Savage" and each time it seems to fit the amp on which branch a treat (even if his low round and generous virtually disappear on the field).

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several years (she is 90).
I use other guitars, Telecaster Custom, Telecaster reissue 52, Gibson SG (end 60), Gretsch, etc. ... - I also compared with a Les Paul Custom 71, and my Lucille is still largely in my favorites.
It is simple, accurate sounds, round ... and versatility is stirring.

The only thing I'm not "fan" is the rotator. I only used to virtually nothing and aesthetically it is not, in my view, what is most beautiful on this skyscraper.
Otherwise, it's all good and it is more beautiful.

To have tried and used "by chance" in the studio (loan from a friend) long ago, since then I have always dreamed of having a Lucille to me. Since she arrived (there are 2 or 3 years) in my harem guitar, it has lost none of its attractions, on the contrary, the dream continues.

Its versatility, flexibility, mouth, ergonomics and especially make HER a choice that this guitar more than advisable to be little we do the test.
