UTILIZATION
Pleasant or not the handle is very subjective. Some, for example, swear by sleeves Start 'then I do not like playing it. For my taste, that of Midtown is very nice, although I would have preferred a wider hair.
Ergonomics ... The Midtown has a very slight imbalance, but with a wide strap and will not slip on the shoulder, we quickly forget this imbalance. Wide strap also useful because without being heavy, this Gibson is not light.
Access to acute sounds good to me. But I do not usually go in the last frets.
Do you get a good sound easy? Hahahaha! We did not get it! it was immediately!
SOUNDS
It suits my style of music. Anyway, I do not know if there is a genre for which she could not agree! This guitar, in my opinion, can do anything.
On the micro to the other, the sounds are very varied. You can switch between clean sounds (on pickup) very "ES-335" (biting, very colorful in the medium and high medium) to plump velvety (on neck pickup) very "Les Paul" while keeping an attack. With drive also has an impressive array of sounds! it can be very oily or very incisive and can send beautiful harmonics. With excellent sustain, with distortion that compresses much we are surprised to get great outfits. Position two mics, attack and give the medium a mixture of bite and warmth.
On all my amps, this guitar is great! Very versatile, yet with a nice personality. In fact, I think we can summarize by saying something with this Midtown, it's almost as if we had an ES-335 and Les Paul in one guitar, and more. By equalizing with a lot of treble on an amp just typed Fender, melted in a mix and scraped on the bridge pickup, you can surprise imagining almost a Telecaster. Good ... good ... I know! it is still not a Tele!
Any of its sounds not dislike me ... today I listened Robben Ford play live on his Sakashita and I thought, 'My Mimi, this sound, it may be. " Mimi is the nickname I gave him. Listen Scofield on its high-end Ibanez: you will also have this sound. Even if you need the amp, you can not even find yourself away from highly compressed and creamy sounds of Gary Moore with his LP in his tracks the worst musical taste as "Parisian"! (Hahahahaha) Want to imitate his BB King? no problem! If you want to jazz, no problem either: the neck pickup is warm to the possible odor of wood.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for a year. This is one of my guitars that I love the game.
A purchase I have not tried to compare: Mimi is what I wanted. And it makes me much affection I have for him!
What I like least? Initially, the aesthetically disconcerting side of a kind ES-335 guitar with a flat table ... Then we made it, especially when we heard her sing! I quickly replaced by Gibson Vintage Reissue in the same drawing, which, according to my taste, bonifient significantly - original (.046, Genuine Gibson strings apparently .010) strings.
The quality / price? Oh! great: beautiful violin (finishes very good), nice handle, and then tons of sounds and what sounds!
If you are not one of those steadfast anti-Gibson-a-priori as it may exist, go for this guitar, you can only love.
Other instrument of Midtown series in my opinion worthy of interest: Midtown Kalamazoo, so children from the coupling of a Les Paul and a Byrdland ... http://www2.gibson.com/Products/ Electric-Guitars/Designer/Gibson-USA/Midtown-Kalamazoo.aspx
