«  a good compromise when it hesitates between leaving his or her LP ES! »

Guitar made in United States
Mahogany body "Chambered" carved maple table with 3 parts, gills in F.
slim profile mahogany neck very comfortable typing '60, affects richlite (composite, reproducing the sound qualities of ebony).
Burstbucker pickups, 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-position selector.
Standard chrome hardware, Grover, in short, a classic Gibson!
Case of very good quality.

UTILIZATION

The format is interesting, between Les Paul and ES 335. It provides good resonance and depth of sound with a very nice ergonomics (the ES 335 & Co. are really bulky!). In terms of weight, it's the same: lighter than my '79 LP Custom and roughly equivalent to my Lucille. I tested a repeat of three hours by having constantly on the back and is comfortable.

On the aesthetic point of view, the Midtown Custom're very successful, smelling the perfume "custom" with bindings body, neck & head, its bearings and split diamond trapezoids on the head. The only thing cheap is the flat table top.

The general resemblance with ES 359 is really striking, until we go into detail: less careful finishing, flat top, button richlite surprises (not visually but on the data sheet it's fishy ...)

SOUNDS

I for one really hesitated on the sounds of my two favorite guitars (LP and Lucille) to go again. Moreover, I fear somewhat out 2 guitars almost € 3,000 each! So this little news made me in the eye and the test confirmed that it was an interesting addition and very versatile.
In his clear, arpeggios, jazz and funk sounds go great. The sound of humbuckers does not force the lens of a strato but that's not what I wanted. For overdrive / distortion is a guitar that will be comfortable in pop / rock sound including british type Oasis, blues is in the foot, very rock on the bridge pickup and middle position, with bluesy desire on the handle slightly lowering the volume and tone. Like all semi hollow, it is subject to feedback at high volume, metal / trash will probably not his favorite ...
Finally, the key in richlite I was not shocked either in terms of comfort or sound, ebony to still get a more compressed.
I think it will be my beast to do anything less than typed all of my guitars but at least I do not lug around a single.

OVERALL OPINION

Guitar received at 11am, repeated in the evening at 19h! My opinion is always hot and I will update soon. The fact remains that his qualities are undeniable especially at this price level.
I tried many guitars in very different budgets. But for those seeking a well made guitar for about € 1000, I highly recommend it. FYI, the price of a Studio LP or SG Standard. For the guitarist looking for a semi, it is less expensive than Duesenberg Starplayer.
His only fault, the key richlite that will not please the purist, my advice try it.
