    Godin Flat Five X

Godin Flat Five XPublished on 06/11/03 at 15:00
I was looking for an all round versatile guitar to blend in an acoustic as well as electric tone. After reading an article in a guitar magazine reviewing the Godin Flat Five X , I decided to trade in one of my solid body electrics in on this triple A flamed maple topped Godin. The price of the guitar was $1800.00. from a national music store.

It has three output jacks , one for the five way tapped humbucking pickups (providing the versatality of my Les Paul and Strat)even a mild overdrive on the bridge pickup. The center jack provides a mix between the humbuckers and the eq'd acoustic saddles, where the third jack provides a signal for only the acoustic bag pickups.

This guitar surpasses my expectations when hooked up to my Marshall TSL 100 , Peavy Classic 50 , in conjunction with my Crate acoustic 125. I cant see needing any other guitar at a gig. It plays great and has a "booming chellolike sound",when switched to mix in the acoustic pickups and humbuckers, unlike any other guitar I own . It sounds great playing solo when mixing in chords with lead riff's.

The shape and looks of the guitar take some getting use to , as well , the neck isn't as fast as the Wolfgang and feels a mix between my acoustics and the Les Paul...again it is taking a bit of getting use to.I would like to see a little more output from the pickup when switched to the bridge position .

I own acoustic and fine quality electric guitars (all american made) Fender Strat, Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Peavy Wolf Gang. The quality and workmanship of the Godin is unquestionably as good if not better. The jumbo frets are filed perfectly, great attention to detail such as the string adjustment . The neck attachment is perfect. Tuners , bone nut and one piece mahogany neck and head stock all fit perfectly. The semi hollow body is finished off with a triple A flamed top and mahohany binding . Workmanship is very high quality.

It plays great and has a "booming" sound unlike any other guitar I own, especially when mixing in chords with lead riff's. I am very satisfied with it and expect my other guitars will not get used as much use as before.

It's a great guitar class that provides an excellent value for money.
    Electro acoustic is bluffing ...
    Try to adopt it.

I thought about changing the pickups, 2 Roben Ford as SH1 or the standard 59 spitable, I will do one of C4,

I play jazz, blues, Latin and rock,

Finally, I love this instrument and I would do the same choice.
