Published on 07/06/11 at 08:25This is a copy of ES 125, manufactured in Cognac (Charente) with a P-90 ® Dog Ear Lollar neck position, with volume and tone. 20 frets, neck Dupont. Maple Fund glossy, cellulose varnish layer thin enough. Laminated plastic pickguard black, white, black. A workshop Dupont Arts cousin with it much more expensive Gibson different and I did not see it due to its impeccable finish. As the salesman was friendly and available so I tried and am left with soon.
UTILIZATION
The neck is flawless. Bit of a thick, thus requiring a little time to adapt. Once in hand it is exciting, touching and it is delicious "works" completely. The floating bridge beautifully carved in ebony "old" is perfect too. The action is a treat very low, the workshop Dupont fully control his case for adjustment. the game is easy and comfortable, the frets are polished to perfection, in short that happiness! It not think especially at this price!
The laminated maple body (table, bottom rib) is of type ES medium, the right arm is therefore unlikely to stun. Body-neck junction on the 14th case - as it should be on this type of guitar - has a nice thin bead which facilitates access to acute despite the lack of cutaway. The sound is clear, warm and fluffy (due to maple) with a semi-long sustain and volume in acoustics very respectable even with a game in his right hand fingers.
SOUNDS
Once plugged into my Sound studio tube 20 ECL 86 (70 amp Italian), with a bit of tremolo but without reverb, the sound is to die so it's sweet, hot jazz is typical. The micro magnetic Lollar is a wonder of this perfect violin. The icing on the cake!
On a Trace acoustic TA 50R is pretty good too but finally too straight and less subtle.
OVERALL OPINION
For 20 years I'm looking for "the" jazz guitar. I even thought never find it, refusing to see Euro 4000 in a pre-sixties Gibson tired and fragile.
St. Louis has a value for money than honest.
I did not see any lack of violin making even look hard enough, it worked well, clean, you feel the love of work well done. The hardware is correct, the microphone is great, the supplied case fulfills its purpose.
Notice to musicians, collectors and lovers of the craft, it's very very good!
