This Notice applies to the 2nd version FYR (FYR 2) that I took after practicing for a year the first version FYR
Before trying the mics Kamel Chenaouy I passed by Seymour, and also a Dimarzio Crel.
So on my Stratocaster HSS config in SH4 I had initially in bridge, a SD JB Jr. in the middle and a Dimarzio Chopper in neck.
All gave me sound well nice (I only play my ds homestudio to please me). But I found all of the same SD and DM somewhat smooth, lacking relief ... and always driven by the desire to discover some "non standard" I fell on the microphones of luthier Kamel Chenaouy after a little research. Of passive pickups music with a good output level and teeth. What personality ... A first test with the 1 in FYR neck had already rained. I had the opportunity to trade against the 2nd version (magnet Gold-plated, unless I am mistaken, most qqes other mods ...). Well then I think it's a treat. The Dimarzio Chopper, very well, moreover, is found in very soft side. More bite but mostly a very musical, just enough fat and still the main feature of micro KC, precision. If you are looking for a micro fat and mushy, go your way. If you like the pickups cons precise, incisive, attack, well balanced (the right amount of fat, the medium for solo blues-rock fleshy, accurate treble, but that does not twist the ears), it is for you. After seeing each in his style: he must try at least to leave the beaten path ... FYR compared to 1 for those who have tried, the FYR 2 is less dry, more musical, more round, while remaining aggressive and accurate.
I told myself as I please try to replace the SD JB Kr by another in middle Fyr2: nickel ... it was feared that some FYR2 in neck and middle leaves in little difference in texture. In fact none of this: the diff is quite clear between these two positions. It has the character of the micro ds 2, but with the texture associated with each position ... I found myself perfectly. JB Jr. The lack of body compared to FYR2: it gave a more smooth: nice, but smooth and without any real character.
Finally, the excellent microphone designed by a French luthier in Nice, which is different from other traditional suppliers. A little more expensive but frankly we found it on the overall quality of the microphone (components, assembly, cables) and of course the musical qualities. A really try!
