«  Effective on acoustic guitar »

Published on 04/30/12 at 03:50
Large diaphragm condenser, cardioid, comes with anti-shock bracket and carrying case, 48V phantom power, 100Hz low cut filter.
Be careful because even though I have had no trouble so far, the support must be handled rather carefully to avoid breaking anything or screwing up.

OVERALL OPINION

I use two SC400 for over a year and I use it mainly on vocals and acoustic guitars made in home studio environment. For both applications, I prefer it (almost) always the AT2020, SM57, SM58.

The features of this microphone I like least are:
1) The fact that he is not well saturated and high sound pressure levels (eg djembe, pop filter required for voice meshed close)
2) Do not gloss over the transplanted guitar amp, why I use an SM57
3) the low-cut filter is not accessible without removing the microphone (something I have not done)

The price / quality is so good that after a test, I wanted a pair.
