A great mic that does it job well
Published on 05/04/15 at 09:11The folks over at T-Bone have truly provided users with the ability to get some awesome sound at a fraction of the cost. I'm going to go ahead and show all my cards and fully disclose that I am not a fan of tube microphones. This microphone was gift to me and I was unaware at the time that I was admiring it that my wife would purchase it for me. Long story short, I ended up loving the mic. I've recorded so many vocals with it and it holds up just as strong as the day that I got it.
With me doing more recordings of spoken word and soul/jazzy singers, this mic is perfect. There is, I must say, a bit of noise that, if you don't have an interface with good A/D converters, could cause you...…

With me doing more recordings of spoken word and soul/jazzy singers, this mic is perfect. There is, I must say, a bit of noise that, if you don't have an interface with good A/D converters, could cause you some troubles during a session. Which is why I recommend springing for a good converter to compliment this microphone. I can personally attest to the SPL Crimson. It's amazing in combination with home studio mics like the SCT 800.
Comparing it to the Sennsheimer MK4 that is my go to budget microphone, the SCT holds stronger than some would like to give it credit for. It doesn't have as much upper frequency sheen as the MK4, but it still holds strong.
The cons of tube mics are always that you have to have tube management. But knowing this, aside from a bit of noise, I give this mic 4 out of 5 home studio stars.

Yeah, even the Chinese ...
Published on 12/04/13 at 01:02 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Tube microphone made in PRC.
Large membrane.
OVERALL OPINION
We'll go directly to the point: The sound.
My basis for comparison in this technology are the Neumann U67 and Gyraf G7.
Obviously we are far.
The only advantage of this microphone is the mechanical aspect.
The lamp is interchangeable, and that is, we must change it.
The problem is that the output transformer must ALSO be changed.
The capsule should also be changed if you want to avoid too sharp sound Chinese.
So if we add everything we need to add about 250 € for a set that begins to get fit.
However, the supply is made, and the 7-pin cable is of good quality.
The quality / price ratio is okay if...…

The quality / price ratio is okay if you do not mention ethics (small Chinese working for us please, to allow the North Pole melt faster ... )
Do not believe that we can achieve the high end with this microphone, but it is a good first step into the world of lamps to learn to tweak the pickups.
I will not buy this microphone as if I am in possession of a soldering iron and if I used is.

Very good for punchy rock voice
Published on 08/19/13 at 01:47 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Taking voice and guitar or crystal clear sounds.
OVERALL OPINION
All original this microphone is perfect for treble voices very limited rock a little nose and the guitar sounds very crystalline, slightly a little dull a little eq. and in the end it is not bad at all but cash well "punchy" voice without acute too aggressive with a price that is really reasonable for a tube microphone.

A light seems it. I say it seems, because it is not to let heat ncessaire anything to work.
A look from AKG C12 without the talent.
OVERALL OPINION
Test voice, acoustic guitars, piano, home studio and professional studio.
Studio pro:
A caricature of his lamp. Compression dsagrable in proximity. Trs is soft, it must be given sound.
Voice: sad, dull, although a less AKG C1000, Trs far the Neumann KM84 derrire, 87, 105 Kms, and AKG C 414 XLII.
Acoustic Guitars: soft, creamy, a little too rough, but not zero away from the more comfortable on my nylon strings got. Never before the rose is the worst. Better than a sm57 or 58. Less than Dfine AKG C1000S naked, but more musical,...…

Less than Dfine AKG C1000S naked, but more musical, less than KM84 Neumann U87 and AKG C 414 XLII as the optimal placement of each of these microphones.
Grand piano: open (piano) is not bad at all. It leaves enough freedom to the placement and the pursuit of his desire. I imagine a pair of these microphones should render loyal service for the price. Better than C1000, SM57 and 58 (notice that I did not try the same so the two has parat empty), less well, and it is clear that the Neumann and C414 . On an upright piano placement IDAL dpendant primarily the piano, open, more or less dsoss soil, the wall nearest, etc ... I find the uprights much more likely than large pianos, so on an upright piano, it is less servile, more coating, enough flteur.
But it was in the studio, with acoustic tudie, freedom of movement and pramplis suitable.
At home, at home and a friend, it is not the same. The acoustics, however, is not too bad at home, I have no problem of too many rsonances and parasites, I use rgulirement and happily, a KM84 on the guitar and U87 for vocals. The 800 is T.bone dpourvu cutting down and attnuateur. And it is sorely lacking. So is this lousy mug standing wave, which is in the small rooms in the lower promne mdium, l o a stamp! I also mug with the U87, but the proximity + + attnuateur the low-cut, Done done, libr. And our lovely T. Bone is the street, unusable. Yet its price to its intended home studio. Ok, but not in the conditions I have just dcrire. If it makes you feel like your home, take care of your acoustic treatment really Prior, and if you use a computer, stick him a good pramp.
