Rodec sell this device as a noise limiter (Audio Level Control) ... Except for the standards and regulations about noise levels stipulated that the measures are weighted, usually based on curve A to reflect the characteristics of the ear human ( see Wikipedia: A Weithing> here < ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_weighting ) )
Curve A in states such as 50Hz power can be 1000 times greater than it is at 1kHz ... This limitation does not account for such a phenomenon!

In fact, this is not a limiting noise level but a power limiter. In this application it is very effective and has no major defect although a bit slow to face ridges (risk of saturation of the amplifier).

Good point: it is possible to remotely control the level (through a potentiometer 10kOhm) which is sometimes very useful (one can also imagine a timer control to limit the level after midnight for example, or make noise be reduced as soon as you open a door or window, very interesting for fixed installations in urban areas). You can also add an external control input to indicate the implementation of the limiter.

Note that the instructions accompanying the unit (also available on the internet) does not match the pattern as I received it: the sense 1 and 2 connections are not (lack of interest in fact) and all audio connections are XLR3.

I originally gave a bad evaluation because the device does not do what it is supposed to do, but I raised the rating because the properties of remote control can be extremely useful and the treatment of dynamics are still very valid!

UTILIZATION

Power limiter limiter level and not as announced by Rodec!

SOUND QUALITY

Like any power limiter, that pump ... A stroke of bass drum and it is almost silent ... Shame, shame!

OVERALL OPINION

Power limiter, limiter level because not only respond to any weighting ...
The integrated limiting amplifiers are recent as well! No luck!
