The tone is incredible. I tune to D and I like a real cruchy, heavy tone. I compared it to my friend's 84 LP standard w/ emg's and the Raw power sounded better. I think the key is the lack of paint or laquer, hence the name Raw Power. The natural tone isn't muffled by anything. It has only a thin coat of sealer to protect the wood. The neck is fast, it stays in tune. Top quality insturment.

I was expecting a shiny clear coat and was a little disapointed at the look of the raw finish. But after playing it, I realized The Raw Power is all about pure tone. I like the look now. The guitar was too "blonde" for me from the factory. I removed the pickgaurd and plastic selector switch trim ring. Then I replced the gold tone/volume knobs w/ black ones. I also replaced the pickup trim rings and selector switch w/ black ones. Looks outstanding now.

Construction quality is top notch.

The Les Paul Standard Raw Power is a unique Les Paul, very few out there. If tone is your first priority, you should try one out. I'll never sell this axe.
