Romalakian « An entry-level will seduce you! »
Published on 02/03/14 at 11:33A guitar made in USA nice appearance (Gibson requires), an easel tune-o-matic, a thick neck that will, like the rest of this guitar seduce you. Today, this log I miss when I play other guitars! Belle has 22 frets, and is equipped with two microphones Gibson for me.
Caution: for pickups, they change depending on the model. The "Studio Worn" models were actually made to taste companies who commanded. Basically, Thomann perhaps not choose the same options as Woodbrass when they ordered from Gibson. Some models are equipped with Burstbuckers, other 410 ... Be careful when buying. Mine is equipped with 490R and 490T (memory ...)
At the settings: a three-position switch (Channel / Channel-Bridge / Bridge) and 4 knobs (volume and tone for each pickup)
UTILIZATION
The handle ... What Channel! I love it, it is very polished and I love to feel the wood in the palm of my left hand. It is very pleasant and recalls the sensation Takamine acoustic "type". The body of the guitar is both thick and small (I mean the size of the table that surprised me: it looks pretty cute and it denotes the image we have of it when you see the Slash play ... However, it is the standard size of the LP).
The guitar is fairly light: Yes, it's controversial but the body of LP Stud is dug ... So supposedly less sustain but also less heavy. Everything is paid, it will me me like that!
Access to acute ... If everybody does it, is that it is doable! the heel of the neck is fairly well embedded so we can enter the most acute, the famous D which ends the round notes.
I get the sound good?
Yes! of course! mics are good, although the knobs allow customize the sound! Some tips though:
Micro-acute (pickup), volume and tone background: lots of power, the "crados" sounds are cool (rock-hard-metal carefree), with a large distortion, we fly. For soloing in clean, it is also a good config.
Intermediate-Position: Good for rhythm in clean, its quite deep, rich and accurate. In OD / Disto, I prefer to use the bridge pickup.
Serious-position (neck pickup) in clean, it is necessary to thoroughly tone if all identity is lost, the sound is flat, little exploitable. With the tone background, we gain serious (logique. ..), the sound hollow and perfectly accompany a song with some arpeggios for example. Last config that I recommend: the neck pickup, with a neatly trimmed distortion (V EQ for example), cut and tone you THE SOUND OF SLASH!
SOUNDS
In terms of sound, I began to meet higher ...
They suit my style of sound, I'm in love anyway (I do not deny you). I love the distorted sounds (which does not mean it does it), I use several types of distortion:
Disto-integrated lamp Marshall VS8080: top top top, we will rock to rhythmic "metal" worry, we'll squish the british takeoff of a Boeing.
DS-1 on a clean, why not ... At all ... Crunch but it's still acceptable.
Akai Deluxe Distortion-equivalent to the distortion of Marshall, although remaining more versatile (it easily passes through to the rhythmic clash or to sounds worthy of AC / DC but I favor the powerful and bold sounds ... forgive the little).
Big Muff Pi-: Huge sound bluesy-filthy very nice.
After combining, and size is found ... Microphones leave a large enough field of action.
You do everything with this guitar almost (you do not have the sound of Keith Richard, whatever your config but you get close easily by cutting).
OVERALL OPINION
I use this guitar for 5 years (already? I love him like the first day).
I tried many models I was tempted by a variety of models, being at the time at the beginning of course (and as always), I was looking level: Fender, BC Rich (forgive the little), Tele , SG, LP of all kinds ... This guitar has captivated me since his display, she had to cease to continue to subjugate me to let discover tame.
If you have at least a chance to try, make, let yourself be charmed. She did not stamp a Custom, and I do not have the means to pay me. It does not interest me too little: I found my guitar, with a nice face, a sound that I like and that suits me.
The value for money is great and I think Gibson is not to leave equivalent. I remake that choice closed my eyes and keep this guitar for a long time.
