Best value:
Excellent
Made in USA (Nashville)
This is a Les Paul all that more traditional at the violin, modernity is provided on:
- The Grover self locking: holding triad
- Split Single Coil in micro
-! Boost +10 db (activates the microphone)
Mine has a profile handle 60 'so one of finest Gibson, personally I find just perfect ca level ergonomics, comfort and speed of game play
Micro: Classic 57 in neck and a Super 57 + in the bridge
UTILIZATION
Noted, I found the pickup height set incorrectly original (too high) so a bit messy at the beginning, but after setting it is perfect ..... its a real Les Paul as we like! the switch Single Coil is very well optimized, push / push this guitar is really better than the push / pull usual, it goes fast for switching! Although the sound is interesting in single coil, it is convenient for 1 or 2 piece "funky" in the middle of a set, but it will never replace a Strat at the "claquance / brightness" of the sound.
The 10db boost is fine, ca gives a bit more nervous as a riff saturation, or allows to saturate a clean channel on a tube amp in a very subtle! A note on the other hand, the cover for the battery is crap, very difficult to open, plastic and fragile ... must be armed with a screwdriver to change the battery.
Merlot is relatively lighter than the classic Red Wine, it also seems a more simple hair. The table is beautiful, slightly flamed and does well appear the natural grain of the wood. The mahogany body is a single piece of mine, and painted "satin" on the back of the guitar is really pretty, I find it more aesthetically pleasing than the Nitro and especially it is more pleasant to touch the handle. ...
By weight are against it weighs the naughty ... 4.5 kilo! after my first concert last week (4:00 scenes) I needed a shoulder massage ...
SOUNDS
Any lamp plugged into a Marshall amp (JVM 410h), for me it is the perfect match for his THE Rock 70s today!
OVERALL OPINION
Finish: this is where the shoe pinches a bit .... The tailpiece was much too high and not right at all ... ditto for the Tune-o-matic, not adjusted original too high with a very bad effect on the harmonic chords and not just any. The frets too, are a little "rough" one feels a bit under the fingers when playing .... obviously they are not passed Plek machine, I did a mail to Gibson about it and they made a pirouette to explain that this is not a factory specification, and although the majority of their models are passed Plek they can not exclude that some lot do not .... short .... I also have a knob that was cracked, but hey it's not much, but on a guitar of this price, it is generally expected something perfect thing .... After setting the guitar perfectly everything is ok, but provide € 50 more for the maker!
In summary this is a great guitar with a good quality / price ratio ... good symbiosis between Traditional (The level) and modern equipment ... we only regret receive a wrong set in the factory at Gibson guitar!
