Lâg Roxane Matt Design RM200

The Roxane Matt Design 200 is manufactured in China according to the specifications of the French brand Lâg. It is an instrument which is loosely based on the Gibson Les Paul DC (Double Cutaway) making a lot of interesting upgrades.
It is an electric guitar "solid body" mahogany set neck has been some changes since its release. Mine has a rosewood fingerboard with 22 boxes.

It has three knobs and a switch classic three positions.
Two potentiometers volume with push-pull function for each of the two microphones splitter separately (or together if you pull both), and passive tone switch Neck / Bridge + Neck / Bridge give this guitar a certain versatility.

The tuners are accurate and correctly reflect the agreement, the bridge way bridge Tune-O-Matic is equipped with rollers instead of traditional knives and cordent come hang at the back of the guitar following the very nice concept " string-through "deemed to have a positive effect on the sustain of the instrument.

Two humbucker in single coil and split just clutter the mahogany table. A space required if you want to have a little sound. These EMG humbuckers are signed but belong to the passive range of the brand.

UTILIZATION

The handle is it enjoyable?
This is THE main quality of this guitar. The handle is great.
Its format is really nice in hand, the profile is very well studied and here we have an example to follow. The guys at Gibson would do well to emulate, even on the Explorer that has a handle deemed "easier" than the Les Paul. Icing on the varnish, matt satin treatment is pure bliss to practice: both silky and fast.

Access to acute (recent freight) is it easy?
Yes, even if it is not the main purpose of a guitar of this size and with "only" 22 frets. Double notch with some access to acute and the heel is very discreet gammme this guitar.

Ergonomics is it good (in terms of shape, weight ...)?
Double Cut the shape makes it easier quick play but the most surprising in this guitar, outside handle incredible is the ridiculous weight of this guitar. The weight of the guitar is not the quality of the sound, this guitar proves it. Lightweight and sustain high frank attack, ...

SOUNDS

Are they suitable for your style of music?
Absolutely. With split pickups you get nice combinations from emulation stratocaster (it is in the mind, even if it is not THE strat) the roar of heavy palm-muting very neo-metal. Guitar terrain. EMG passive pickups are very good, nothing to envy to Seymour Duncan except snobbery. I thought up a pair of EMG 89 (the same as assets) but ultimately I'm not convinced that it is really useful.

What kind of sound you get and with what settings ("crystalline", "bold", ....)?
Good clean round (humbucker neck), clean accurate (split sleeve), bluesy overdrive (humbucker neck), biting overdrive (split sleeve), although sequences arpeggios loose (split neck + bridge), well-rounded agreements (humbucker neck + bridge ), chopped screaming solo (split bridge), which scoured big riff (bridge humbucker), etc ...

With what (s) amplifier (s) or effect (s) do you play?
I'm using that configuration "home studio" in an Pod X3 Pro or software simulations (Amplitube 3/Fender), Peavey Revalver, Torpedo.

What are the sounds you prefer, you hate?
Nothing to throw. This is a good instrument.

OVERALL OPINION

How long have you been using?
Two weeks, but this is my Xth guitar, I've had a lot of which frankly overpriced. To save quietly at home with good amp simulations is perfect.

Did you try many other models before buying it?
Many yes, you can see my review for more information.

What is so special that you like most and least?
I love everything except the fact that it is "made in china", I would have preferred an instrument made at home but not at the same rate.

How do you rate the quality / price?
Very good, especially used, paid the equivalent of 250 euros (exchange)
With experience, you do again this choice?
Absolutely. But next time I choose a Rox 'Bédarieux. The luthiers at Lâg really deserve their success and the brand has understood that by producing instruments outside France with high standards she would be very successful. Played well.

UTILIZATION

Channel hyper-enjoyable. This is my big surprise! What a joy to walk on these 22 boxes. The frets are wide and very soft to the fingers.
When the weight is surprisingly the lightest guitar I've ever brought, what you see does not alter its sound. Its form is sensual and beauty that never tires of looking (I am black).
The clear sound distorted sounds easily without complex settings.

SOUNDS

It is a very versatile guitar with tones rich and round, and we can get to play all styles without blinking.
The clean sounds are deep, not garish. We can make it more clear in micro splitter. The distos are catchy with a predominance for the progressive rock sounds.

OVERALL OPINION

This guitar is great for its price, and I've never price as a scratch on my foot, both for ease of play, the sound and the look! I had to install myself the 2 button push / pull as they had been forgotten on my guitar, LAG, and gave them to me then sent home. Anyway, here is the guitar that judge, and I'm going himself 10/10 as it corresponds perfectly to my expectations and demonstrated a phenomenal overall quality for the money.

UTILIZATION

The handle is very nice, after a small adjustment of the string action. Coming from an Ibanez, I feared an adjustment period due to its thickness, it is actually late. The matt varnish slides very well (in addition to not become stained with fingerprints).

The access to the latest cargo is easy thanks to the double cutaway, nice besides being aesthetic.

Ergonomics ... If body weight is very, very low, that the handle is, say, "normal", as a result, if the handling of the guitar appears easy because of the weight, and allows pretty acrobatic, it tends .. . to pitch down. Warning! Nothing terrible, it is to get used to not release the handle, that's all.

This gives a good sound easy, since the EMG-HZ pickups are very good passive, which have a sacred potato; over the split allows a wide range of sounds, but I will detail it later.

Get a big or very big distortion is easy, the grain contributes to the microphones with pleasure. The attack is precise and well made. However, they do not make miracles, and if the gain knob to 11, if the distortion is gross, well it Bavera, no surprise. However they have a sacred fishing gives distortion and overdrive measured over a big fat sound.
In crunch, although this is not my chosen field, same comment as before, the EMG faithfully recreate the attack, the sound is clear.
In his clear, it must immediately debunk: the EMG, as well it sends. The split is very helpful to find a pleasant sound. However, the bridge pickup is a bit too sharp and loaded with high-medium, at once the sound is a bit garish. The tone knob brings the right amount of brightness, however the use of the split is recommended.

A distortion with gain is pushed too high, anyway, pretty ugly and slimy (very grindcore :-|) => blah.
Clear sound on the bridge pickup, not split, will be limited, too loud => blah.

For cons: the distortion (or overdrive) with a reasonable gain (up to 8 ~ anyway) will work more enjoyable. Warning => EMG's are still a little cold, even in the neck position: they are not made to play jazz.

I love: the look, very beautiful, matt varnish, the handle nice, the overall sound, ergonomics.
I do not like: it pitches down!

Some, such as RM 100, and believe me, the EMG make a big difference!

It's not cheap, but I'm pleased ... Honestly, I'm not good at estimating the price of a guitar. Quality is at the appointment, for sure.

I put 8 because for the price it has nothing to envy (ebony fingerboard, EMG pickups with split, bridge with string through-body mahogany ...), but nothing is perfect and the quality of the varnish is no top

UTILIZATION

+ The handle is very comfortable and easy to play

+ Good Access in acute thanks to the double cutaway

+ For the good big distortion sound that comes out easily and clean sound in the neck pickup is very round and warm

- For ergonomics, the guitar is really very slight, especially the body, but not the head so the guitar tends to prick forward (as in prior reviews)

SOUNDS

I am playing mostly big sound from rock to mtal (deftones, rage, soad and stuff like that) and it is perfect, I use the bridge pickup for double distortion when I want big sound rather very bold, if not the handle Splitter (drier)

When I play it clean neck pickup is on the splitter (for sorting has Clapton or Pink Floyd, Hendrix, etc.) or non-splitter for more roundness

on the other hand I found the bridge pickup in single really too cold and I never use it, combined with neck pickup

I stress the great versatility of this guitar is rather type rock / mtal to dpart but thanks to diffrent possible positions gives us his very varied palettes, but also thanks to EMG sending the sauce well with the distortion in high output, but are also clean the road
I am not expert but I think the woods utiliss must play a role in the quality of sound (bridge pickup but Splitt = yuck)

Namely, I play Marshall VS8080, and adding a little reverb and a light chorus, I can have a very beautiful sound, and I put a little flanger its clean and sometimes od TS9 and a roll ca wonderful ^ ^

If not seen the original neck pickup is an H4A (often micro ream normally bridge) and the bridge pickup a FH3A, I swapped the two (with easily with connectors), and I prefer that I config H4A is the most prcis and less drooling in the bridge position

EDIT: I have been in pass config 'Seymour Duncan Blackout in the bridge, and EMG89 to handle, and nothing to do with the Hz the sound is top notch, if somewhat less versatile. (Asset size in the great ca)

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a little over 2 years now

What I like least:
- The balance
- The sound of the pickup splittbr /> - the varnish is very messy and is very susceptible to chips and scratches
What I like most:
- Ease of play (run and nice touch)
- The versatility and rich palette of sounds offered
- The weight lightweight

The ratio quality price is almost unbeatable for me given the quality and versatility of the guitar (about 500), there are a lot of default, but they are ngligeables in view of its quality.
