«  A Les Paul DC "Made in France" »

Published on 01/18/11 at 09:25
To repeat the essential points, this guitar is made in France (Bédarieux), it is equipped with an easel tune'o matic, the handle is a nice round profile C and varnishes, 22 frets, 2 alnico humbuckers Lag zebra home , 2 volumes, one tone Generally, a 3 position selector, mine is sunburst red pulling brown / orange with a table of beautiful curly maple, I replaced the microphone by the contours of the color creams, I mounted caches chrome microphones and I replaced the knobs with Gibson type of copper, which gives it a very vintage look.

UTILIZATION

The handle is comfortable and holds well in hand, he is not tiring, the advantage compared to a Les Paul is its access to much higher acute because the heel is almost nonexistent, so access even higher than some guitars sleeve screwed start type, the frets are medium.
on the other hand weight issue ... it's heavy! 4.4 kg on the scale ... nothing to envy to a good Les Paul that respects itself, provide strap locks and a good padded strap.

SOUNDS

So one thing is clear: the pickups though correct, does not make any justice to this violin, I quickly upgraded the beast with the usual couple SH4 / SH1 and there is already much teeth ... I recently mounted a pro in Burstbucker bridge and there was this revelation! nothing to envy to a good Les Paul with access to higher highs, a table of beautiful flamed an absolutely flawless finish, short of happiness!

The sounds are warm and fat distortion in, I play a Peavey Triple XXX head and preamp Rocktron Piranha spent in the loop, sending it very heavy.

OVERALL OPINION

I use now for 13 years, this guitar is a bargain, especially at the price where it occurs on occasion (between 400 and 500 €), I had purchased the period 5600 F (850 €) New Paris and it was already a very good deal.
The main interest of this guitar is his violin and his exceptional finish, the pickups need to be replaced, it must make a choice because it is a violin "heavy" that favors the low thousands, perhaps even more certain that the Paul, so do not hesitate to put microphones favoring the treble and high mids.
I think that at present, yet little guitar can compete with this model for the little that is looking for a Les Paul Standard DC ...
