Subject: HD96 AIR — EXT TALK bus showing no signal in Patching page
Hi all,
I'm configuring a talkback/shout system on an HD96 AIR (latest firmware) and have run into a signal flow issue I can't resolve.
My goal:
I want to route my Talk mic (connected to the dedicated Talk XLR input on the rear of the console) into the Shout Mixer as a source (Shout In 1), so I can use the Shout Matrix to selectively route my talk mic to different destinations independently.
What I've done:
Talk mic confirmed working (tested by patching to Local In 1 and seeing metering)
In the Talk/Oscillator configuration page I have both Talk INT and Talk EXT toggled on
Talk GAIN knob is up
In the Patching page, EXT TALK (found under Internal → Monitor Out) is patched to Shout In 1
System Routing is set to Off as I don't need the INT bus going anywhere
The problem:
No signal is appearing on the EXT TALK source in the Patching page when I speak into the Talk mic. The patch to Shout In 1 exists but is irrelevant since nothing is reaching the EXT TALK bus itself.
Specific questions:
Is there something required to activate the EXT TALK bus on the AIR beyond toggling Talk EXT on in the Talk/Oscillator page?
Does the HD96 AIR handle the Talk input differently from the HD96-24 in terms of signal flow to the EXT TALK bus?
Is the Shout Mixer the correct approach for this kind of selective talk routing on the AIR, or is there a better path?
